Charged for items never picked up
I have bought two items at office depot online for store pickup
A laptop and a set of blanks DVDs
After I placed the order I never got the next mail saying ready to pickup
I had this experience once when I did get ready to pickup mail but they didnt have the item
I did go to the store after 2 days and checked with them and they said they dont have the order in the system..so fair enough, I thought may be thats the reason I didnt get the ready to pick up mail
To my horror, I noticed last night, that those two items were charged against my credit card its almost 4-5 months ago. This is disturbing and I feel so ripped off.
Their customer service is bad, as I said I had to run around them to get reimbursement an year back when they charged but never delivered the item. Now need to go and check if they really returned that money an year
Where should I go

Stole my money
Office Depot in their ultimate wisdom thinks that consumers should deal with their products no matter if it is what you want or not. Basically you buy it is exactly what they are saying, it is yours.
So if you need the next one better in their technology department then you own both if your stupid enough to shop there. This is one company that needs a major corporate overhaul. It may be legitimate what they are doing but it is majorly un-ethical to steal from your customers for corporate profit.
I know I will attempt to avoid their product at all costs. And I hope I can sway many others to the same idea. This company needs to go out of business. Their is no room for their kind in the world of merchandising.

Defective office depot product
Purchased pack of 25 Office Depot brand DVD-RW. After finding 8 out of 10 being defective with visible defect marks on the disks, contacted Office Dept via e-mail, received confirmation that someone will contact me within 24 hours. After 3 days with no reply, I sent a thank you note for their level of care. Received reply that they cannot locate my statement. Explained the defective product that bears Office Depot name and the fact that they should not knowingly sell defective items to consumers as ALL of the said DVD-RW's were puleed off the shelf yet, they sell packs of 50 for $5 via net?
I was told I just had a bad batch with NO offer to replace the product that has their own name (Office Depot) printed on them. What a glorious way to honor your establishment's name and commitment to quality control.
I take the loss as with all the current lawsuits against you, you'll need to panhandle but, I will never spend a penny at your store again. Major electronic and office supply stores are within 3-mile radius.

Failure to deliver (at ALL!)
What an example of poor business and incompetence!
I ordered and PAID for a laptop from OfficeDepot on their website. In bold letters on top of their leading page was "Free Next Business Day Delivery".
In this particular purchase this was very important to me as I was having the computer delivered in time for a flight out of the country.
When the computer didn't arrive next business day, I checked the email and they had 'deleted' the order.
Calling customer service, I was told that my Credit Card company had denied the order.
This LIE was cleared up with a simple call to MasterCard. They not only had approved the order, but gave me the date, time amount and a verification code.
Calling back to customer service, I was now told that they were "out of stock" of this item.
It was late in the afternoon on Friday, my plane for south America was leaving in hours and they made one lousy excuse after another.
When asked if they could do anything to deliver this computer or another one like it in time for my flight, they opted to do nothing. Their answer was that they could refund my money (a given).
They offered no plausible excuse for having denied my order, having 'deleted' it without notifying me, no phone call, nothing.
When asked if they could get another computer to me on Saturday before my flight, they just said "we don't deliver on Saturdays"
Well, that wouldn't have been necessary if they had simply followed through with their big internet promise of "Free Next Business Day Delivery"
DON'T BE FOOLED!
They will deliver it if it is convenient for them, if they have it in stock and if they feel like it.
If it is important to you, go to a store (preferably a professional one) and purchase it. OR have it delivered by a company who actually knows that people are relying on companies to live up to their promises as we are also important and have promises to keep.
YOU HAVE CHOICES - Give your money to a company that deserves it!

Bad Printer
Office Depot sold me two HP printers within the last 4 months and won't give me a replacement or any help with dealing with HP.
HP is impossible to deal with and I feel that Office Depot should take better care of its customers and help with warranty problems.

Service Contract
On June 11, 2008 I purchased an HP Laptop at the Office Depot Store in Houma, La. (all of this is supported by documentation) . At the time of purchase I also purchased a service contract. That contact kicked in November when the laptop developed a problem with the cd/dvd drive recognizing cd's, dvd's data, music what ever. Also two USB ports failed to recognize anything plugged into them. I called Office Deport, stayed on the phone approximately 2 hours, finally they decided the lap top needed to go to repair. They notified their repair center and I was provided a return box: So far so good - did not last long... Prior to shipping to Office Depot repair center I was able to get onto the internet with my cable ethernet (this is important as you will see in a moment); in addition the laptop came with a pre-factory installed recovery partition and no recovery cd's, this is also important. Approximately one week later I received the laptop back from Teleplan, the repair service for Office Depot. I tried to get online, could not, I called Teleplan Repair, after 45 minutes they said I had to call the warranty company. I called HP thinking maybe they could help, stayed on the phone one hour; They believe Teleplan screwed up the bios in the computer. I called Office Depot stayed on the phone for 1.5 hours, they decided to send it back to Teleplan. Got it back today in the same condition; even had to purchase a Recovery CD from HP and pay for it, even though it was Teleplan who deleted the partition. Now they say it's a software issue and the warranty does not cover it! what is a computer without the operating system? A piece of boards, chips, etc., basically "junk". Yes they are responsible because they were the ones who screwed the system up. The original problem was fixed, however they created other issues and failed to fix those. Now they refuse to honor my replacement contract! the moral to this story - I will never purchase another item from Office Depot, especially a service contract. It's not worth the paper it's printed on... I'm waiting on a reply to my letter to them; next I will file a suit in small claims court. Might not be able to get action, however I'll have a judgement!

Misrepresented Products
Office Depot has these and a few other Papermate pencils listed as the "American Naturals" and "Made in USA". Well, sorry... these are cheap Chinese imports like all the others now. Sanford, the manufacturer, owned by Rubbermaid, has closed their Tennessee plant. There are no Papermate pencils that are Made in the USA so don't think you are getting something quality. So dissipointed when I ordered a truckload of these and they arrived (see attached) however to their credit, Office Depot credited my account and said just keep them. I guess that is to keep the peace but no mention of them changing their website info to reflect the true product.
So if you want to be sure your kids are chewing on lead-free yellow painted pencils manufactured under regulation like the OSHA, EPA and FDC (what are the Chinese equivalents to these? Hm, cant think of them) buy the Semi-Hex school pencils I just ordered from the General Pencil Co. in Jersey City and made from aromatic cedar from California. Good stuff for the kidos and the teacher will thank you for not wasting class time sharpening crappy pencils all day!

Horrible service
I purchased a new laptop from Office Depot on 8/12/2009. With the purchase I bought an extended warranty for which I completed an online registration. The salesman and information included promised a free windows 7 upgrade once available. When the time came 3 months later I visited the windows site to discover a photocopy of the sales receipt was required, but I no longer had it in my possession due to the fact it was needed for a mail in rebate. I visited the store from which the purchase was made and spoke with the manager on duty. He told me that he could not find a copy of the receipt and that it was my responsibility not his. He also incorrectly informed me that the free upgrade had ended. He gave me the 800 number to office depot to request a copy of the receipt. I called the number and gave the total amount, date of purchase, and card number (all recorded from my bank statements). I was again informed that they could not provide me with a proof of purchase of any kind. Back to the uncaring manager, he said there is still nothing that can be done for a computer less than 3 months old with an extended warranty. I asked that because the plan included accidental damage that I could just drop the computer and force him to replace it with the new system. He agreed that this is what would happen. I cannot understand how poor the customer service could be on such a large business. I will not purposefully break the computer because after no help, I am concerned the there will be another loophole the will not allow me to have the computer fixed or replaced.

Return Policy
I placed an on-line order for a Texas Instrument calculator. The order was delivered the very next day (which I was very pleased with - extremely prompt with the delivery). However, found out from one of my sons that the model I ordered was not the model he needed for school. I went to return the item to the store on my way to work the next day.
I was told that they can not take back any order that was delivered and I need to call the toll free number to arrange the return. I called the toll free number and was told that someone will be stopping to pickup the item (anytime between 8:30 - 5:30). When I asked about how the item should be packaged and about the label that should be on the package, I was told to address it to Home Depot (no address, no label, etc.). Another question I posed was how do I know if it's been actually picked up by someone, the person said "she doesn't know". She asked if I lived in an area that had experienced bulgary lately or if it's safe.
My complaint are the following:
- how can the store not take back items ordered on-line?
- how can you expect someone to be home to return the item (8:30 - 5:30)?
- how do you not supply return label(s) to track the item to make sure someone actually picked up the item?
I will make sure I never order items on-line from Office Depot again and make sure everyone I know is aware of the policy. This is one of the most inefficient company that wastes resources (money, time, energy, etc.) when we are all trying to cut cost, time, etc. in this recession.

Awful bookcases - Awful customer service
Several things leave me displeased with my Office Depot order. First, the bookcase pictured for SKU636155 did not match the items I ordered. Second, the bookcases are badly engineered. They consist of a two-shelf base with a three shelf unit on top. The central shelf literally divides the unit in half and is the connection piece for each half. This configuration makes the unit very weak. Even in the instructions, there is a warning not to stand the unit on end before the cardboard back is nailed on. The warning states the unit may collapse. I can't recommend this overpriced excuse for furniture. Third, I called Office Depot to return the bookcases. On Aug 30, I was given a Set 15 pickup date. On Sep 2, I got a call from the pickup service saying they were at my home to pick up the bookcases. This was the first time I'd heard of any change. I was lucky and they finally collected the bookcases on Tuesday Sep 8. I contacted them later about when the refund will post back to my credit card. I was told it would take 5 to 8 days for the refund to be processed. What kind of service is that? I can’t recommend this product or Office Depot service. Both are completely unsatisfactory.
I tried to post a review on the office depot site - since I rated the product as 'poor' the review was never posted - even after I resubmitted several time. So forget about truth from Office Depot
