Office Depot Reviews

Overcharged
I just returned from our local Office Depot store where we have been a customer for over 7 years. We printed two 18x24 posters today (which we print often) and the total came to $127 after our 2 for 1 discount! The regular price is only $44 each, but today's price is over $60 each. When I inquired as to why, I was told the discount was for the print only - not the laminating and mounting. Okay - but why then are two posters costing me $127 instead of the normal $96 WITHOUT the coupon?? I should not have asked - the look and attitiude I got from the rep and the asst manager was enough to make me realize that our relationship with Office Depot was over. They ended up giving me the two posters for $48 like the coupon offered, but I had to ask myself why? If you are going to treat me like *+%# and therefore lose my future business, why give me the discount?? You still let me leave without an apology for trying to stick me for $80. Although our local Staples store is a further drive, I'd rather give our business to someone who at least appears to care that we chose them as a vendor. Don't waste your money or company resources on vendors with poor customer service - it is killing small business in America.

Laptop Incomplete
Bought a HP laptop there, display model, about July 1, 2009. After reviewing the specifications of HP website, noticed the power supply adaptor given to me by Office Depot (OD) was wrong size. (wrong wattage). Took laptop back, only to find "no more 90W units by HP available in that store." Store personnel gave me a generic brand (Targus) rated at 90W and they promised me they would order correct one from HP. In about a week, the Targus unit failed. Found out later, via Targus web site, they do not make a compartable unit to adequately power my laptop. I went back to OD to get HP unit they promised to order, flow supervisor stated "OD does not order parts from manufacturers." Aditionally, OD would not replace Targus power adaptor since not receipt was given to me, i e No Sale.

Double charged
I placed an order on officedepot.com. They charged for the entire order the day I place the order. The day the order was supposed to be delivered, they recharged for part of the order. When I called the customer service number, they told me that I had called and placed the order that morning. I told them I had not called them nor had I duplicated my own order. They informed me that they did not make mistakes like that and that I had obviously given my credit card information to someone. When I asked who could give me the name of the person that took the order, I was told no one had that information. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was told there was no one higher in the South America Office and that they could not help me. I had placed the order and would have to wait for it to be delivered and return it then. Meanwhile they have double charged me for my order and refused to refund my money.

False Advertising
Went to the store today to make some purchases. My daughter a customer was with me and she wanted to purchase some of the same items and she had her own money. The store had an ad running for back to school items and said PER CUSTOMER and when we got to check out they refused her sale saying she had to pay full price. Saying that its per household. I argued with the employees and showed them the ad and it CLEARLY says PER CUSTOMER not PER HOUSEHOLD. If they want it to be per household they need to print it per household. There is a big difference between customer and household. Especially if each is paying seperatly!!! This is false advertising and should be put to a STOP!!! We left with only my purchases and now am some pretty ticked off customers with a BAD TASTE in our mouths of OFFICE DEPOT!!

Terrible service
Office Depots customer service is a big fat joke. Their customer service reps r all rude. The managers will always them up. Your the idiot and their employees r always right. (even though i work for an attorney and they answer phones all day) HA! I was never offered any apologies or remedies for their continuous inconveniences. Late delivery, rude reps, no confirmation of fax orders, wrong items delivered, the list goes on. So, anyone reading this that can refer me to a customer friendly office supply company who will deliver and receive faxed orders.

Rude Manager
It was raining very hard as I entered the store. I let my umbrella down and was proceeding to get a shopping cart. I was approached by a man who proceeded to to point to my left and say you are getting the floor wet, hurry and put it in the basket. I was shocked and said it is raining outside. I felt that he was very rude to me so what if the floor gets wet! MOP IT UP!! Manager was Jairman(sp) at Store #45. I spent $90 also.

Poor store experience, can't buy advertised product
Two weeks ago I visited the Victoria BC store, after seeing that
although Office Depot.ca lists the HP B9180 printer online, it displayed
an "unavailable in your area" error when I attempted to buy online.

The staff was helpful, took a look online and verified that it was
indeed in the Office Depot item list, and then took my name and number
and agreed to get one in-store which I could then purchase. I was
pleased and went on to pick up a supply of inks and high end photo
papers for my existing printer, and made plans to make Office Depot my
single source for printing supplies for my photography based on that
experience.

I followed up with a phone call two days ago and was told "it's not here
yet, we'll call you when it's in". Although a bit surprised at the long
lead time, I was satisfied that things were in the works and that I
would have my printer in due time.

Today I was in-store making some additional purchases and decided to
check the status of the printer and things went quickly downhill.
Apparently the manager who had been assisting me is no longer with you,
the back-room associate who I assume handles receiving had no idea what
we were talking about, and the member of the store's management team I
wound up talking to a) had no idea who I was, b) could find no record of
any request to have this printer brought to the store, c) told me it
can't be purchased at Office Depot Canada at all. When I related the
conversation I had with a store associate two days ago, all I got was
"well who was it?" followed by a bit of a shrug and a "we can't help
you".

It was on the OD.ca web site. I was not on the US ".com" web site when
I saw it.

I received no follow-up phone call apologizing for a mix-up and letting
me know the item could not be obtained for me. Further, either someone
at the store knows about this and knows the item was expected in or one
of your store associates just made that up to get a customer off the
phone.

What did I expect? As someone who spent over seventeen years in big-box
corporate retail management (at Kohl's) here's what I expected: I
expected the member of the store management team I met with today
(Stephen) to get on a phone back to corporate, explain the situation,
and see what could be done to assist a customer. I expected an apology
for the confusion. I expected more of an effort than simply browsing
the website and...while we were both looking at the printer displayed
with a Canadian price (not the US price)...telling me it was not
available through the Canadian arm of OD. I expected to want to
continue to do business with Office Depot despite this situation. I did
not get what I expected.

I am flagging this with a request for a response. I want to know that
this is not the norm, I want to understand how the item displays on the
.ca version of the e-commerce item database at all, since it clearly
should not be if you don't sell it in Canada. I would love to hear that
someone will help me, and I would like to have a positive experience
with Office Depot as opposed to being currently disposed to telling
every other professional photographer I come into contact with (and
anyone else for that matter) that I had a horrid experience with your
company and won't be going back.

Unauthorized billing
On 3/9/2009, I called the Office Depot toll free number to place an order. The male operator began making rude female jesters. I requested a different individual to handle the call. He laughed and in a sexual manner stated there's no one here but me. I said, "no thanks" and immediately ended the call. Within minutes, I called the same toll free number and spoke to a different operator at Office Depot. The order was placed, then I requested to have a coupon added to my order. I was told the order was already processed, and it was too late to add a coupon. I wasn't aware that I had to mention a mailed coupon before giving my credit card information. Before the call ended, a group of males in the background began making loud references to the call I had made earlier. Overly attempting to annoy me, the male operator's voice gave an impression of rudeness in his call completion statement. I did not make a comment, but I called back in twenty minutes and cancelled my order.

Office Depot charged my credit card $83.12 on March 9, 2009; and, after eleven polite requests to refund my account, they have not given credit for the cancelled order. I was given an order number: 468908259-001. Office Depot operator Nesia said she sent the request to resolution, but I have spoken to their resolution department. On 3/25/2009, my credit was approved. Kurt said, "The request was forwarded a third time. There was a note for approval. His supervisor was notified, and he alerted the billing department."
I have also tried online to receive credit. The only response has been a conversation with an Office Depot operator.

Liars
I purchased the product "Media Now" after talking to one of the sales associates about it's compatibility. The product would not work with Vista on a 64 bit system. I took the product back and told it could not be returned because I might have made a copy of the program and that it was against the copy right laws. I filed a complaint with the company and was told the same thing by one of their managers. I researched the copy right laws and there is no such law. If there were no software could ever be returned and many companies will take the program back if they don't work. It is simply Office Depot's policy to assume that every customer is a thief. That is their privilege, but they should be upfront about it and not lie to their customers.

Customer Service
Worst customer service ever received. I see this company going out of business. Will never buy anything from there again and would not recommend anyone else to go there.
