SHAME SHAME SHAME ON THEM. Having frequented and spent a vast sum for each and every season, at this Establishment, today's experience left me deeply disturbed and amazed that such ignorance was alive and well. We brought our Children, taught from early on to be respectful and gracious, to begin our Holiday preparation of getting garland, a few new decorations etc. The were so very excited and walked in literally chirping with delight, seeing the twinkling lights, and right at the door, two huge stuffed animal reindeer. The Kids stroked the deer, and began to wander with Daddy and I by their sides, to look around, Their delight and exuberance was palpable.
In a flash, the same Woman who has wrung up obscene amounts on her cash register, happily accepting my business, came and told us our Children were not to touch ANYTHING.
I approached her and, dumbfounded, asked her what on earth she possibly could mean, when Christmas is obviously, a time for Children to say the least. She told us many people come and never once have to tell their children not to touch - I have heard of shameful tales in past, but that could not be more cruel and unfair. No child on the planet, when faced with the bombardment of sparkling lights, twinkling animal figures, and STUFFED ANIMALS, is not going to be compelled to cheer in placing their little hands to pat them?
Ours are well behaved, sweet and polite Children.
This Establishment obviously doesn't need business, nor do they fool themselves with all their decor, into thinking they honor the joys of the Holidays.
