I purchased a Molitor 17 wood / fiberglass canoe from a retail store that was going out of business.This is supposed to be the top of the line Old Town Canoe. The canoe after it was purchased, was found to have obvious manufacturing defects to the underside of the bow and stern decks. When I e-mailed Johnson Outdoors I was informed that because I had purchased this from a store that was going out of business and had purchased it at a reduced price the Old Town warranty was null and void. When I asked if Old Town could (at the least) supply me with replacement decks that I could have installed at my expense they replied I could purchase them from them at retail price of $170 ea. and they would waive the shipping. I would advise anyone against purchasing a product from a Johnson Outdoor owned company as they (as in the above case) do not stand behind their manufacturing warranty nor product quality claims.
