I bought an I500 OLYMPUS Film camera in 2007 for 300$ and from the first day of purchase it was out of order, Thinking that I don't know how to work with it I avoided giving the camera to Olympus branch to repair it until the year 2008, Finally disappointed of using it I gave the camera to service center and the guy in charge expressed their branch's in ability to repair the camera since the zooming device which needed repair is no longer being manufactured for almost 2 years.
I decided to inform the problem to Olympus central costumer care in Japan after sending an email they kept me waiting for four months and finally I emailed them and asked for a response on 19/12/2008, this was their answer:
Dear Mr. *******,
Thank you for your e-mail.
We have investigated the situation for repair of your camera.
According to the result, we found that the stock of spare parts for
the IS-500 was already depleted and no longer available in our stock.
Therefore, it is not possible for us to perform a necessary repair
on your camera.
We are very sorry that we cannot be more helpful about this matter.
Thank you for your understanding.!!!
Funny thing is that no company in the world will run out of spare parts two years after ceasure of manufacturing a brand 8 years has passed form closing the Beta max manufacturing line for example, and still spare parts are available in the market.
know I have to throw $ 300 in to waste bin without even using it once just because of irresponsibility of their company...
Hence I must say I have no understanding...
