My step-daughter & I went into the facility to see if we wanted to start working out there, they were offering a free workout. My wife HAS a membership there with her other daughter, keep that in mind.
I told the lady, Ms. Julia Jones, that we were not joining and we just wanted the free workout. I specifically told her, IF we decide to join we would join under my wife's membership since she gets as discount through her company. She said OK but we had to fill out the paperwork to get the free workout. She filled out an Omni contract telling me that it was standard procedure and that I would not be held to it unless I told her I wanted to join. I reminded her, again, that IF I decided to join it would be under my wife's membership since she gets a discount. Ms. Jones said she understood but we would have to go through with the paperwork for the workout. Something was telling me then that this just did not make sense and I surely should have listened and stopped her right there but I didn't. We completed the paperwork and I told her again, especially after she told me she even had to have my credit card information, that I was NOT joining. I was there for the free workout and IF I joined it would be through my wife since she got the discount...how hard is that to understand ??
We completed a workout and they even invited us back for a private session so we agreed and did it. It was OK but after discussion we didn't think we would fully use the facility so we decided not to join.
I went back in a few days later to tell them I would not be joining and I was told that I had signed a contract and there was nothing they could do. I immediately asked to see Ms. Julia Jones who initiated this whole deal and I was told she was released for misleading customers. HELLO, EXACTLY, it's just what she had done to me.
I tried to speak to a manager but there was not one available I was told. I came back a day or so later and tried to speak to a manager and there was still not one available, I did talk to a secretary or someone but did not remember her name and was essentially told the same thing, that there was nothing they could do and I would be responsible for the contract.
Since this has happened I have not been able to get any satisfaction from the local facility. I called the parent company as well, National fitness, and got pretty much the same response, "you signed a contract". They put no weight in the fact that this person, Julia Jones, lied to me and then was let go for misleading customers. I AM the customer that was mislead.
The parent company, National Fitness is now turning me over to their collection agency for lack of payment and will do nothing about the fact that I was lied to.
I hope to hear more stories like this from the Rock Hill facility because I would like to file a class-action suit against them for deceit and deception in the sign-up practice. Please respond if this has happened to you so we can expose these strong-armed tactics.
