Classmates.com is infamous among disappointed consumers. Once you sign up for Classmates.com gold membership, it is nearly impossible to cancel that membership. I personally have requested a password reset dozens of times, so that I can access my account, but have NEVER received a response from Classmates. This means that I cannot use the services that I HAVE BEEN CHARGED FOR!!! I also cannot access the account link to cancel my account on-line. I have submitted a dispute for the charge with my credit card company.
I have attempted to call several different telephone numbers for "customer support" only to be left on hold indefinitely. While I have called several times, I have NEVER reached an actual person in customer services.
A consumer advocate encouraged me to do two things:
Contact the State of Washington Attorney General's Office. Here is the link: http://www.atg.wa.gov/fileacomplaint.aspx (You can file a complaint on-line)
Sent a letter by certified mail to the Classmates Seattle office with clear instructions of what you are requesting. The letter can be tracked by the postal service. Here is Classmates mailing address:
333 Elliott Ave. W. Suite 500
Seattle, WA 98119
You should not have to cancel your credit card in order to get a satisfactory resolution from this company. If enough people submit complaints to the attorney general, Classmates will get the message.
Good luck.
