In March 2008 I purchased a CD online for $2. I received it and my credit card statement showed a $2 charge, and I paid it.
Later, I received a cold call from a different company, and the caller said they planned to mail something to my home and that I had a certain number of days to return it or I would be billed for it. I asked him not to mail the item, and he hung up on me.
I had moved and so I don't know if they mailed it or not, but they charged my credit card $47 for the item. I complained, and Bank of America disputed the charge for about a month or two. Later, my bank sent me a letter that contained a photo copy of the transaction and said that I had to pay it.
Obviously the vendor charged it by himself, not me, and Bank of America lacks the ability to dispute the charge.
