deceiving practices
This complaint is regarding Only 1 prepaid credit cards. On 1/13/10 my daughter purchased, what she and I thought to be, an Only 1 prepaid credit card. When she returned home to pay her traffic ticket online, she realized she hadn't put enough money on the card and there was a 24 hour activation period. So she went back to the supermarket where she purchased the card and the clerk told her that the card would automatically charge her another $4.95 to put an additional $20.00 on the card. She came home called the 1-800 # and was told that she did not actually purchase the card, but the "reload". The representative went on to say that she needed to go back and purchase the actual credit card for $9.95 put an additional $20.00 on it and transfer the "reload" amount onto the credit card. She complained to the rep that what she purchased said nothing about having to purchase a credit card first. She further explained that they should refund her money due to this issue and that she needed to pay her ticket as soon as possible. The representative told her they did not refund money. That's where I got involved. I contacted the company and explained that we needed to resolve this so she could have her money returned to her account. My daughter is a college student who worked two jobs during the holidays to save some money and unfortunately got a ticket for a "NO RIGHT TURN ON RED". I asked them to refund the money and they were very reluctant. I told the rep to put in her notes that I would contact the BBB to file a complaint because the item we purchased says absolutely nothing about the initial purchase of a credit card. The representative stated that I would have to wait at least 21 days for the money. I told her I didn't care how long it took, they need to refund the money she is entitled to. She told me that it was subject to review and I would have an answer in 72 hours. I waited 5 days and called back and another rep told me that it takes 7 to 10 days to get an answer (update). If this is their way of trying to get rid of me they are mistaken. I already went to the store where it was purchased and spoke with the manager. I am going to tell everyone I know and everyplace I can post it that this is a scam!
