Wow, where do I start? April of 2008 I brought my 1996 Bounder 34J to Orange County RV to sell through consignment. Everything seemed fine. Official contract, professionalism, and we (my wife and I) held onto the title.
Since that time my family had moved to Phoenix for two incredible job oppurtunities. Life has been wonderful here in AZ. So, I called the dealership in august of 2008 to find out how things are going and he said that things were slow but assured me things would get better. Fast forward to December of 2008. I gave a call to OC RV to find out if it had been sold and if not, I would like to schedule a date to come and pick it up since our contract with OC RV had expired. He didn't like that. He tried everything in the book to convince me otherwise. So we agreed that I would give them till the first week of january 2009. And I did.
I called them in the beginning of the second week. No answer...left a messege. I called about 4 or 5 days later. No answer...left a messege. (see where I'm going with this?) Evidently, they went out of business in January 2009 and sold my RV for a small percentage of the asking price and pocketed the money. From what I understand, they did this to 7 RV owners who trusted them. They promptly filed for bankruptcy and California DMV told me they moved out of the state soon afterwards.
Since all of this has taken place, I'm no further ahead than when I first started. The Irvine Police could care less as they continually refused to call me back and when they finally did, they told me it was civil and good luck. My insurance company (Progressive) jerked me around for almost 4 months and then told me that they did not consider it a loss and refused to cover it. My own lawyer, that I pay for, doesn't really have any interest. And on top of it all, California has 3rd party protection for the people who bought my RV and absolutely no protection for me, the real victim.
