Oregon Car Connection Reviews

Rude service
I do not want to give them the opportunity to make it right. I just want my opinion of this company out there, so that maybe another person will not waste their time with them.

They advertise in WA, then hang up on us because we are not local. After not wanting to take a check (which we understand) we came up with cash for the full purchase price...still...no deal. Come to find out they lied on the Craigslist add anyway.

Check the reviews before you buy from them! There are many bad ones out there.

Fraudulent Business Practices
In May 2010, I purchased a vehicle from Oregon Car Connection . On the paperwork submitted to the lender they had put down I paid 1320 to them as down payment. On the vehicle purchase form, they put down 1000 and on the promissory note they put down I was supposed to pay a total of 500 two weeks later. I did put down 500 dollars at the time of sale and two weeks later i paid 500 dollars more. I did initial the promissory note regarding the 500 dollars. A month ago, I got a notice from a collection agency that Oregon Car Connection had put me into collections for 320 dollars. The collection sent me a photocopy of the purchase order and the promissory note. Lo and behold, in a different handwriting the figure of 320 was added to the form with no date of when it was due and no initialing from me plus at the top of the note, it stated a total of 500 dollars was due which was paid. I did manage to get my account out of collections, but when I called the owner of the company to discuss the issue, that I considered the contract null and void since they had altered the promissory note the owner (Brian) called me a "fucking bitch" --(pardon the profanity) and he "didn't care about any fucking lawyer I might get either." He refused to meet with me to settle this with me amicably. Therefore, I will have to pursue this further with the Oregon Attorney General and a lawyer. In addition, the car's brakes went out two weeks after I bought the vehicle and they paid to get them repaired and three weeks after that the car died on the freeway due to a broken cam shaft. The car has sat in a repair shot for months now because I don't have the money to repair it and the car is not worth the money to do so. I was given another vehicle from my fiance, which I am very grateful for. I kept up the payments on the broken down car faithfully and it will be paid off in March. I did this so my credit could be rebuilt. All I want from this company is my money back, because I feel they voided the contract when they added an additional amount to the promissory note illegally and then took me to collections. I truly believe they knew they were selling me a vehicle which had questionable brakes which they seem to have acknowledged by paying for the repair on them.

need more gas in car
I like the car I just purchased from Oregon Car Connection. My only complaint was that the tank was on only an eighth of a tank when I left the lot. I told the salesman to tell his boss to fill em before he sells them and he would have happier customers. Especially with the price of gas nowadays. Other than that I really like my car and my salesman and the whole damn process of getting a good deal on a car.
Thanks.

Do not trust this guy!
We had been looking at their add on craiglist for a 03 Chevy 2500. It was listed for 12, 900. We were expecting to pay 10-11000 for a truck like that, if we didn't have to put any money into it. We test drove it with salesman Kenny (who was great), and the truck seemed fine mechanically. (My husband is a mechanic) However, there were quite of few paint defects: the paint was dripping on one side - it had obviously been repainted and not top-quality, the chromed trim was bubbling up and chipping off, and just random chips and gauges. Also the tailgate was totally bent, and wouldn't latch on one side, as well as the bumper. It had obviously been hit in the back. SO, me and my husband talked about it, and decided it would take about $1000 to get it to the condition we wanted, therefore we'd offer a low price of $9500, and point out our reasoning. If they took it, great; if not, we'd keep looking til we found something we truly felt would be money well spent. We signed the offer sheet with Kenny, who took it to review with his boss. Soon, in walks the owner and says, "So, you offered 9500?" Yes, we say. "Where'd that number come from?" he rudely asks. "After our research, that's what this truck is worth to us, considering the repairs it needs" my husband replies. Then this cocky owner goes on and on about kellly blue book value, and how the car business is run. He was trying to convince us that the repairs would only amt to 200, whiich we know not to be true, from prior experience. He stated furiously that he OWNS this place, and so obviously we should trust him, since it's apparent we have NOT shopped around. when we told him, we had, in fact, shopped around, he said, "AND NO ONE HAS LECTURED YOU ON THE BASICS OF THE CAR INDUSTRY???" Well, no, thanks much! By this time, we wouldn't have given such a jerk 5000 for that truck! We walked out of there glad we hadn't given this guy our business! So, do NOT go there, without being EXTREMELY skeptical!

Defective product
I bought a vehicle that obviously had a bad transmission that was covered up during the test drive by telling me where to go on the test drive and overfilling the transmission fluid so that it would not be noticed on the test drive. Dealer did not disclose all exsisting problems with the vehicle prior to selling it. Their contract assumes full disclosure and half an hour after getting it off the lot I found out it disingages the engine at 35 mph. When I took it back to the dealer they said that is was probably the overdrive on the transmission and after trying to reason with them they still refused to do anything about it. This was the only money I had and now I have a vehicle that does not go into 4th gear and I cannot drive more than 35 mph and no money to buy a new vehicle.

Dishonest
I bought a 2000 Montero Sport from them a week ago. A day after buying it I found an oil leak(cam gasket seal) while I was filling the gas tank and checking oil levels. When I checked the oil the dipstick read nothing... later found the horn doesn't work.
I forgot to check the spare tire when looking the car over. When I got home I found it had no spare tire, or jack, or lug wrench.
I had looked at the car a week before I bought it. The body was in very good condition at the time. When I went back to test drive/buy a week later I found the bumper alignment was off. The owner told me he would fix it, and drove me to the auto body shop and scheduled an appointment to meet me at the shop a few days later at 9AM. When I went to the shop he didn't show, I called the dealership to ask where he was and they told me he was at an auction, and was a very busy person. I gave them my phone # and asked for him to return my call, didn't happen. They didn't pay to repair the bumper. When told about the oil leak/lack of oil the dealer told me cars we sold "as is." I asked if he was comfortable selling a car with out oil and he repeated "as is, that's why it they are so cheap."
The car looked very nice, and with ~ $1000 of work will be in good condition, but I feel some things were hidden from me(I also over looked some things). I looked very hard for that oil leak and found nothing during the test drive. I knew this particular leak was a problem with monteros. I guess the "bubble gum" fell off after I bought it.
I recommend you do no business with this company, or at the very least bring the car to an unassociated mechanic before buying it.
