This company was a recommended contractor found through Service Magic, which I might add is also a joke. When I tried to post this same complaint on their website they screened it and never allowed it to post at all. Go figure...you complain about their contractors, they loose money.

Well back to Original Back Porch Designs...the owner Larry Hayes is a walking joke. He shows up to bid your job, in my case a deck, with a very professional assistant to take all measurements and sketch the overall design explaining that "this is my best man he will do exactly what you want". Then when you decide to accept his bid the nightmare begins. He doesn't start the job on time, has half the material he should at the job site, and shows up with a crew of day laborers that you can't even communicate with. To make matters worse, after stating that he would be on the job site for the entire project, he leaves. They wasted more lumber with mis-cuts than you can imagine and didn't care. My husband and I actually had to purchase over $2, 000 worth of lumber and materials out of our own pockets just to get the job done. Then the project ran 2 weeks over schedule and is still not right. Our contract states we have a 3-year warranty, yeah right!! What good is a warranty when the *** that started the project is going to be the *** that tries to fix it.

All I can say is I hope this information helps someone else avoid this company at all costs. And, furthermore, don't waste your time with Service Magic or sites like them. A smart consumer can make their own informed decisions. These sites are paid by contractors for referrals. They are not looking out for you the consumer!!!
