I purchased an Oris Big Crown chronograph on June 19th this year, as a 60th birthday present for my husband. On Saturday Sept 5th, he discovered that one of the winder buttons had dropped off. We returned the watch to the retail supplier - Brisbane vintage Watches - who sent for repair to Perth, under guarantee. They are now suggesting that the loss of the button is due to 'bumping' and that they will repair it only as a goodwill gesture, but it will take some weeks as the part has to be sent from overseas.
having spent what for me is a large amount of money on a very special present, I'm not impressed. On the afternoon when the button was lost, my husband was in a graduation ceremony, sitting on a platform. Absolutely no circumstance beyond the ordinary could have impacted on the watch. I am really disappointed with this situation, and with the attitude of the supplier and repairer. I think in the circumstances, the most likely problem is deficient manufacture, and the watch should be replaced. Jane goodall
