Very expensive on comparison
I've been a Outsurance Customer since 2007 and have a vehicle insurance policy with them. Last year they advertised anual increases at a avaerage of 7.8% if memory serves me right.
To my surprise my installment went up with almost 30%! And I haven't claimed from them since I joined. I made use of their 'free' towing service once when my car broke down with a gearbox problem.
So today I phone to get a quote on a 2006 BMW 320d Sport which I want to buy and insure, they come back with a rediculous intallment of R2900 pm!! That is almost the installment on the vehicle. After comparing quotes from 12 diffrent insurers raging from R800 to R1230 for the most expensive... I must say that as a current Outsurance client I'm very dissapointed!
The insurance from the other companies was also fully comprehensive and with fixed excess same the amount they quoted me on. Even after taking my fixed excess to R10000 the monthly installment was still R2400pm! That stil is 100% more expensive than the most expensive compared quote I got...

One month later and the claims still not settled
I was involved in a hit and run accident a month ago! After reporting the accident and putting through the claim there was a whole investigation because i was driving my mothers car!! Best part i am insured as the second driver on the car although outsurances policy states any person is covered with a valid drivers lisence.
The guy who did the investigation was so focused on nailing me on any aspect he could find that there was not even one question asked about what happened... After two weeks we phoned the call centre numorous times just for them to tell us the claim is settled and the car is busy getting fixed. A week passed and then the story changed to no the claim is still being investigated. Now after a month the claim has not been settled and the evidence if any of the investigation has disappeared so they can not pay out the claim, how conveniant for OUTSURANCE!!!
Worst of all is they never even fetched the car at the towing company... Bad service all around!!

Outsurance still dodging me
I posted a previous complaint about Outsurance about 2 weeks ago, which has still not been resolved. A staff member of mine, with comprehensive motor insurance with Outsurance, had a claim first accepted, and then rejected, on grounds of DUI at the time. When I asked for proof of this, Outsurance and their assessors have been dodging me ever since. I'm thinking of moving all of my personal policies away from Outsurance. Disgraceful!!

Cancellation of policy is an absolute nightmare
On 7 Sept 09 I requested Outsurance to cancel my Policy. Kobus phoned, trying to convince me not to cancel. I asked him whether its possible to change my marriage status as I am now divorced. Want the Policy in my name. Guess what! He told me If I change my marriage status Outsurance will consider me a high risk customer and my premium will increase with R200! I was stunt! I phoned Kobus again the following day, requesting him to please ensure my Policy is cancelled. His response to me, now very dominating and demanding: I cannot believe, after I have told and shown you all the differences between us and them (the New Insurance Company), you still want to cancel! You will be making a very big mistake! I told him I have made up my mind. His response : I am an expert in my field and I will again explain to you the differences! I had to listen to him for 15 min bad mouthing the other company! Eventually I put the phone down on him. Policy now cancelled. I've complaint to Cherise his 'manager' about his attitude. Its Friday and still no response from her. How can Outsurance allow a Consultant to intimidate their customers like this!! It's just not on!

Stay far away from Outsurance
I write this complaint on behalf on my sister who had taken over my vehicle which had been insured by Outsurance. Sadly the vehicle was stolen on the 9 June 2009. After putting in a claim for the vehicle Outsurance informed her that the claim had been denied due to not having a tracking device insurance approved alarm. When she called Outsurance to notify them that she was unaware of these requirements they replied by stating that because I was the previous owner I should have known and told her. She requested the recorded conversation but till today hasn’t had any luck except for the promise to have the sales manager call her back. As the policy holder and payee of the premium she should have been made aware of this requirement. My question is why should Outsurance or any other insurance company be allowed to collect the monthly premium if they are not going to ensure the vehicle.

No work done for third day
I was instructed by Outsurance to take my vehicle to the panel beater as soon as possible. I confirmed that I would take it in on Tuesday. Tuesday morning my vehicle was taken in at 11:30, the manager at THE PANEL BEATER requested authorisation and till today no authorisation was given and no work was done on my vehicle.

Five weeks and no service
Had a car accident on 29th of July. Same day sent Outsurance police case nr, drawing of accident, description etc. Consultant that first helped me was Tumi. Today - 5 WEEKS later - my car is still standing in storage. Tumi never gets back to me, everytime I phone I speak to a different consultant - promises are made, never kept. Took them 4 weeks to send out an assessor - pathetic!! Send me a mail confirming qoutation for VW approved panelbeater was approved - they phone that panel beater and say that I want to fix my car somewhere else. They truly give the worst service in the sourthern Africa, and if you're on here to try to sway your mind to join them or not - DO NOT!!! They are full of promises (like it takes a max of 4 days to complete your claim), take your money like clockwork, but when you have a claim, they just conveniently ignore you - if they had an office in Namibia I would go there and not leave until my claim is sorted. Lucky for them they are in Johannesburg - so Namibians beware this company! No feedback, no support!

Poor Service
I was involved in an accident when a driver, insured by Outsurance, drove into the back of me on 18 July 2010. When contacted by outsurance I faxed them all the relevant details inlcuding quotes. I also personally took my vehicle to their own evaluator. Subsequently however I have just had no feedback from them. They have completely ignored my last 7 faxes despite same specifically requesting that they acknowledge receipt. I have also telephponed the claims handler directly but its always the same message 'she is currently busy on a call" and she does not call back. This is extremely disapointing. The merits are simple and their insured driver is clearly at fault yet when it comes to fixing my car they just remain silent. I see they have won awards for customer service but clearly they no longer feel they need to maintain these standards nor do they keep to their webpage and media promises.
This accident was over a month ago and as Outsurance is ignoring all correspondence I have no idea whether they intend settling or not. Do I have to incur legal costs just to get them to respond?
Another huge concern for me is that although my vehicle mentioned above is not insured by Outsurance I do have another vehicle that is insured by them. If i ever have to rely on them for this other vehicle will they also simply ignore me and leave me with the problem to resolve on my own? At this stage I have lost complete faith in outsurance.

CLAIM
I was in an accident on 5 May 2010 with my Geely CK1 1.5GT and put in a claim with Outsurance. I got my claim number on 7 May 2010. Since I have been phoning regularly to get my car booked in at the panelbeater (Germatic Autobody 0128033667) They claim that they cannot get the parts for repairing my car but I gave them details of the ONLY agent for Geely in Pretoria, Chana Gezina 0123352848/Sarel 0769528330. They want to use someone that is not an accredited Geely dealer. Chana Gezina can get the parts within two working days. I'm not getting any assistance from Outsurance or Germatic. I asked for another panelbeater to repair my car but Outsurance does not want to appoint another panelbeater. PLEASE ASSIST! I want them to appoint another panelbeater that will get started on my car immediately as I am a huge risk on the road now with my brake lights not working. I need this fixed ASAP!
