Scam/false bill collection
I just got a call from Oxford in Maine telling me that they are trying to collect a debt from my mortgage company/bank...JP Morgan Chase, that they said I owed a deficiency to after my short sale a year ago. He said that sometimes the bank sends out the deficiency notice prior to the sale or a court decision, as I said as far as I knew I owed them nothing per the short sale agreement and Release of Mortgage terms, and that if I supplied him with the Release of Mortgage terms that state I woe the bank nothing, he would close the account. He said I owed the bank 43k plus!! YIKES!!! Well I had never heard that from the bank and never gotten anything in the mail from the bank or Oxford regarding and deficiency judgement, per the laws of the state of CT where the short sale took place. I lost everything and now live with my parents having to move my two kids 400 miles from the only home they ever knew. I lost the 120k I put down on the house and two years of interest only payments of 5k a month at 8.5% apr. So anyway, this was the first and only time I had heard anything about owing the bank. They know full well I am broke. The sale of the house covered all but 15k of the principal loan amount. I am giving the background as to give a larger picture of my situation. So at first I believed "Dan" and called the document company in CT that was paid to track my mortgage and they emailed me the Release of Mortgage, not the details, just the signed statement from the bank that I was free and clear. I emailed him a copy and thought it was done. NOOOOO...He emails me back saying he "suggests that I give him my attorney's number so he can speak to her directly. What??? A collection agency? With no proof or documentation what so ever that I owe anyone anything?? Um, no. So then he calls! I didn't pick up and got the recording. So I looked into it and I am convinced that if the bank wanted money from me they would have to go to court and I would have to be served and go to court in CT and then a deficiency judgement would be made my the judge. So I emailed him back saying in no uncertain terms not to contact me again, I know the law and if I find out "Dan" was doing anything at all illegal, he would get the crap sued out of him. I have yet to hear back. Then to get this off my mind, I decided to Google Oxford and this is what I am finding out. I did not give him any info he didn't already know. Oh and he got my home number by calling my mom at her house, she lives somewhere else, and told her he was a health insurer calling in regards to a claim. So she gave him my number! She and I had a chat about that. I have read that if I send them a cease and desist letter and they contact me after they receive it they are breaking the law. What I am wondering is if they were just fishing to see if they could get anything from me even though I have not heard anything from the CT courts or the bank.

phone calls
I receive calls from Oxford Management on my house phone that is listed with do not call list. They call my house asking for my ex husband and his daughter. I have been divorce from him for over 30 years and have since remarried and have a different last name. Oxford Management went online through the phone directory and seen where my son whose name is the same as my ex husband except my son is a Jr. and they keep calling. When I tell them he doesn't live here nor do I know how to get in touch with him that get very rude with me and sometime hang up on me. I have asked several times for them to remove my phone number from that account but they continue to call my house while I am trying to sleep. My ex husband or his family do not have my phone number and I have only had this phone number for the past 3 years. Oxford Management do not need to be calling other peoples phones when there are privancy act in place. I don't want to know about my ex and his family issues.

HARRASSING PHONE CALLS
This company has constantly called my house even after i told them they had the wrong person. My daughter has told them they had the wrong number. They called right back, they have even called early on a sunday morning, i told the lady then she had the wrong person, so she stated that if I did not give her the information she needed she would keep calling. I do not answer but they still call. I don't owe anyone any money, the ones I do I pay faithfully. So I know this is a joke, I have tried to call back and the person do not except calls or the line is full. What a harrassing mess!

Harassing phone calls, threats
Oxford Management Services has called me every day for the past 3 weeks. I have asked them repeatedly not to call me anymore. Most days I get at least 2 calls and when I get angry and tell them not to call back is usually when I get 7 calls in a row. When I answer the person on the other end of the line starts yelling at me and it very hard to believe nd cursing. They claim I owe them money from a medical bill from June of 2007. According to them it was just submitted to them. I find it hard to believe it has been 3 years and they are just now gtting it submitted. Then when I tell them I don't feel comfortable giving them payment over the phone they say well we will give you a discount for paying it today. I tell them until I get something in my hand with all of the account info on it I am not sending them any money. That is when they start yelling at me. I am tired of being harassed by these people and am very close to pressing charges on them. I don't know what else I can do.

He said you pay your phone bill dont you? so you have money. I have tried to get phone co to stop calls, but they say I have to call police. I do not have caller id so I do not know what number they are calling from. I am a heart patient and I do not need this stress.

Scam
So, this morning my father in law got a call from a company claiming to be Oxford Management, a collection agency. They were looking for my wife and me. He (my father in law) forwarded me their info. When I got home from work I called them a bit confused as I pay my bills and hoped that something had not slipped through the cracks and was effecting my credit. When they answered they asked for my ssn and banking info to resolve a debt of about $200. I laughed. "i never give out my ssn and buy the way a det for what exactly" type of conversation began. They refused to tell me what the debt was for. I asked for something in writing. They refused to provide that. Finally I spoke to a manager "Kevin". He eventually agreed to e-mail me the collection letter. Well, 30 minutes or so later, guess what. You got it! No e-mail. I called back, spoke to Kevin again. This time he refused to send the e-mail or anything in writing because I was being rude to him. I asked for his last name. He terminated the call. Is this just some scam company? Call me crazy but I do not give my ssn and baanking info over the phone to ALMOST any company that contacts me via my inlaws, can't tell me what the money is for, can't prove that they are who they say they are, can't provide any written documentation of any debt whatsoever and don't know that my wive and I do not put both of our names on anything at all. EVER. Something is in her name or mine. We do not and have never ever co-bought a car or co- took a credit card or anything. Pretty bad con artists if you ask me.

Calling every 15 minutes, EVERYDAY
I have been out of work since January of 2007 due to medical issues. The insurance I had back then was getting paid but was not paying my bills. This came back to bite me in the behind. I have several medical bills I just cannot take care of until I receive employment. Here is where Oxford Management steps in...

This Oxford Management company is causing my blood pressure to rise. I tell them I am out of work - have been for the past three years. They begin asking personal questions, which I hate - who is paying my bills? I ask them who is responsible for this bill? I am right? Such personal questions are not going to be answered. I don't know when I will be able to pay the bill. Right now, my priority lies with my children being fed with a roof over their heads - not some medical bill that I have already had for a couple of years. Do you know how many bills I have to repay due to my crappy insurance? Put it on my report until I can get to it.

The real problem comes when that person hangs up - twenty minutes later, they call back! Not once or twice a week but EVERYDAY!!! They call several times a day everyday like that is going to change my situation and I am going to give a credit card number! It got so bad I had to call one of the branches to find out how to stop them from calling altogether.

What you have to do is send a letter to one of the branches requesting restriction from calling and to receive mail only. If not, they will continue to call.

They don't say
Oxford Management calls but when I answer, they just say if you are so and so, press 1 but if you aren't so and so disconnect this call. They don't say who they are-I see their name on my caller ID-and they don't say what they want.

Repeat call
Two days ago received a recorded pitch telling me that the call was "non-solicitation." I waited for the options so that I could opt-out of further calls. The only option was press "1" to speak to a representative. So, I pressed 1 and told the woman who answered that 1) I wanted my number removed from their calling list; and, 2) they are required to included an opt-out selection.
Today I received another call from Oxford. One more and I contact the FTC.
