I ordered a camera, to my daughter in Queensland, on 6 February 2009 from this fraudulent company. OzDirect stated prior to purchase that several copies of the camera were in stock in Queensland, Australia (and several more in other states). The company withdrew 855.80 SEK (154.59 AUD) on the day I accepted the payment. So, I was promised a camera, which was in stock, which the company immediately withdrew payment for, and I was guaranteed delivery within a day.
Really was different and this is what happened:
1) Since no camera was delivered after two weeks and the company was mute, I issued an "Inquiry Ticket" on 20 February 2009. The response was that "A representative will follow-up with you as soon as possible. (Current turnaround is typically 2 business day [s])"
2) After five weeks, nothing had happened. My daughter succeeded on 11 March 2009, after many attempts, to contact an OzDirect spokesperson in Sidney who informed her that the camera was no longer available (!) and that I would get refunded.
3) Ozdirect mailed me on 13 March 2009 that I would receive a credit voucher "valid for one year (the amount plus 10 AUD as "gratuity"). The company also offered to actually pay back the amount (without the "gratuity") if I replied within three days (this was their demand on customer response time!!). I replied on 14 March that I wanted my money back.
4) This lead to the following OzDirect response on 16 March 2009: "We currently have a back log in our refunds department due to daily limits refund through our merchant gateway, at this time your refund can take up to 2-3 weeks".
5) Regardless of the absurdity of the answer, I waited three weeks but no payment arrived. On 6 April 2009 I wrote a frank mail in which I demanded OzDirect to immediately refund my expenses.
6) OzDirect answered on 9 April 2009 that "Please be assured our accounts department have your refund details, and will notify you with the transaction receipt as soon as your refund is processed".
7) I filed a report to my local police, in Uppsala, Sweden, on 16 May 2009 and I have still not received any money.
It is clear that the deplorable business method of OzDirect is to first steal their clients' money, then delay all activities with various idiot responses, to finally see the stupid customers give up so that OzDirect can keep the stolen money. The fact that the amounts are small and customers live in countries with different legislations, makes this business method" extra harmful for all serious web companies. I wish that this company could be black-listed by all major credit-card companies and that some person could put them in front of a suitable court.
