I was looking for a laptop computer on line Jan 22 2008. using a service called pricegrabbers.com I saw an acer aspire 5100 acer mfr. Part# LX.ABHOJ.155 advertised for almost $100.00 less than any other retailer listing this laptop by a company named Page Computers. Their advertised price was $593.55 plus s&h. I purchased this laptop with a credit card immediately.
About 48 hours later, I decided to visit Page Computers website to obtain the status of my order. Since the order was showing as ‘in process’ I called their customer service. I was told the item was no longer available!!!
I then went to their website and saw the same item, now 2 days later was in fact available but they were now charging $723.91 for the same item. I called them back again---I was given some bs about the distributor that was offering the computer at the price originally advertised was out of stock, and then I was offered the opportunity to pay the difference of what advertised price of the unit was the day I ordered and what a ‘new distributor’ was offering the same unit for now. A whopping addition $130.00. talk about bait and switch.
