Paradise Escapes Reviews

cOMPLIMENTARY gIFT
I received a 1st class mailing on 2/2/11 to receive a complimentary 8 day/7 night cruise for 2 with an outside cabin as well as a bonus of 2 round trip airfares leaving from or going to any major airport in the continental US if I call within 48 hours. I called and agreed to attend a 90-minute seminar in Gettysburg (65 miles away) on February 5th. My wife and I attentively sat through the seminar to purchase a vacation package with Paradise Escapes in the lobby of Comfort Suites. After the presentation was over, we talked with a sales representative and negotiated a price for a vacation package. After failing to reach an amiable price my wife and I declined to commit to a purchase at that time. We were then told to see a representative in the lobby who would present us with our complimentary gift. This representative claimed to have run out of the gifts. He took our phone number and address along with at least 4 other couples while we were waiting and promised to mail our gift on Monday (Feb 7th). We were skeptical and requested a phone number of a representative, which we were given. His name was “Marcos” who told us if we do not receive our gift to call and he would ensure we received what was promised. I never received anything from Paradise Escapes after waiting 3 weeks. Only 1 of 6 phone calls to Marcos was answered when he said again he would take care of it, which he did not. When I called the 800 number on the postcard I was mailed, I was first told to wait a week and call back (which I did), then wait another week and call back (which I did) and finally to return to where we attended the seminar and speak to a representative. I explained they are gone as the seminar was in the lobby of Comfort Suites and the individual told me to have a nice day and hung up on me. This type of false advertisement has to be illegal! Mail fraud? My bigger concern would be for any individual who actually purchased what they were trying to sell. What a scam!

Denied Refund
We purchased (under high pressure sales tactics) this vacation club Membership on Thursday Feb 3, 2011. We were told that we could not get access until Tuesday Fb 8, 2011. The information we received from the seminar stated that the cost of a 1, 2, or 3 bedroom resort condo would never exceed $399.00. This was false. They also said we would have access to "thousands" of discounted trips and cruises. I think there are less than 20 trips being advertised on the website. I immediately felt uncomfortable with the website and what they had to offer and I called the manager Ms. Leslie Lenel. When she answered the phone, I said I had a change of heart and wanted to terminate any contract - we were no longer interested (since she said to us at the seminar that we could change our mind if we had second thoughts) and she said sorry...you are stuck, there is no changing your mind; if you don't want the membership, you need to re-sale it. I need to know what rights I have and can I get out of paying for a product I never used nor will use in the future? I can be reached at [email protected]
