This company switched me from my previous provider to their company in July of 2010 and sent written correspondence to loo for a package and new cards. Those documents never arrived at my mailing address which they had on file from my Pennyslvania Life prior policy. I had a fairly basic plan that cost me $39.20 a month. Without my authorization they switched me to a premium plan with their company that now costs me over $80 a month. I only take 3 generic prescription drugs and do not need or want this premium plan.
I have had a serious of family events and tragedies that had me out of state most of the fall of 2010 (during the enrollment period) and I did not return to the Denver area where I reside until early January 2011. It was then that my bank notified me of the increased charges and new company. After hours on the phone trying to get this resolved through the Community CCRx PDP managed by Universal American, they were rude, disrespectufl and denied me any rights, telling me (on a fixed income) I would have to pay this more than $50 a month until the new enrollment period in October of 2011.
I do not qualify for other assistance but live on a limited retirement poackage olus social security. They have nio real customer service -- if they call, they leave no message and then claim I am unresponsive to pohone calls. All the mailings they claim to have sent never got to me and I am very responsible with my mail. I have been a professional (educational posychologist) all my working life and have certainly paid into Social Security more than most people. I feel totally victimized as this company will noit give out fax numbers or allow email access -- they depend totally on the US Postal system which has been unreliable in the huge apartment complex where I live most of the year.
I was advised by Medicare to file an Insurance Borad complaint and trust this is the way to do it but am not sure what action I can take. I would appreciate some kind of resoonse as this $50 increase per month is a huge financial hardshio for me. Thank you sincerely for any help you can provide.
