I leased a 2004 BMW X-5 from the Passport BMW dealership in Marlow Heights Maryland in August of 2004. Since lease inception, my vehicle has been in the shop 15 times (nearly every other month) and it currently needs service again.

Here is a brief summary of some of the problems I have had with the vehicle:

o Failed alternator

o Failed headlight motor

o Failed tensioner (2x)

o Broken windshield (replaced by BMW who cracked the windshield cassette and Passport repaired it on a separate visit)

o Power steering pump replaced

o GPS has been having issues since July of last year. I have complained of this many times since April of 2006 and been told it is working properly. Yesterday, after it was dropped off to me and I was told the GPS was functional. It failed while I was in an unfamiliar area and froze solid. I was not even able to turn it off and was only able to use the volume knob on the entire system. I was also told the seat belt light that was staying on even when my seat belt was engaged was not a problem, but the light still intermittently stays on.

o Shorted left tail light

o Belts replaced, twice

o Headlight assembly replaced

As you can imagine, having a vehicle that is in the shop nearly every other month can be taxing. I transport clients in my car daily. The car has been unavailable to me at critical times in my life and career. This includes when my father was hospitalized in TN for a severe heart condition. I do not feel safe in this car, nor do I feel I can trust it not to break down and leave me stranded. As per my career, I am put in a situation where I must yet again cancel or change appointments with my clients in order to accommodate this vehicle being serviced and/or repaired. There is only one thing that I can rely on when it comes to this vehicle, and that is its unreliability.

I requested that BMW release me from the lease or at least let me out of the lease a little early, but they have refused to help in any way, shape or form. They have offered me NOTHING to make up for this Junker of a car.
