unauthorized information
I get calls from these people saying that I have some kind of an agreement or contract with them, and that if I want to cancel I owe them $400. I never heard of these people before they called me, several times. I don't know their location, state, phone number. I told them I will not pay them anything, and if they want to take me to court it's fine, at least then I'll find out who and where they are.

unauthorized charges
This company contacts you via phone ( from a private number) and does not tell you that you are committed for multi year contract for delivery of magazines. You get nothing in writing and they deduct $49.95 a month from your checking account. We keep calling them- and rarely do you get a reply- to cancel and should they answer the phone they insist they need over 1000 dollars in cancellation fee. When you change your bank account they send it to a collection agency and this hurts your credit rating. This company should NOT be allowed to continue to fraud people.

Unauthorized charges
I was looking at my credit card statement in September. I noticed some charges listed as Magazines, so I checked out the phone number and found the address online and it came up with this company. I never signed up for the service and the charges just started showing up on my credit card statement.

Non Receipt of magazines
I have been contacted by this company solicitating for a 5 year magazine subscrition. I have yet to receive any magazines and do not trust the company. They do not return phone calls. They make it sound as if you own them mooney when they are just solicitating. I want my money back.

Deceptive Practices
Patriotic Readers Club called several months ago claiming to be "with my magazine distributor". I currently use one so I didn't think much about it. They proceeded to tell me that "they" are going to credit card billing and doing away with paper billing. That seemed reasonable with the way technology is heading so I gave them my card number. Stupid!! I was told that the charge would be $39.95/month which was about what I was paying. I was told that I would be getting an additional five magazines. They told me that they would fedex confirmation with account number, terms, etc. I never got the first piece of paper from them. Well, when I got my credit card bill the charge was $49.95 and I also still got the paper bill from my current distributor. It wasn't until I tried to contact the company via the phone number I was given that I learned I was actually contacted by this Patriotic Readers Club. By the way, every time I called I got the answering machine and no one called back until I cancelled my credit card. Then they started calling. Today I received a letter in the mail from a "collection agency" stating that I owe over $1200 even though the account balance is only about $330. I can write to them disputing the charges and they will determine whether they are legitimate and then let me know. Well, BS, my attorney will be writing the letter.

Operating under false pretenses
They got me with their little scam too. They posed to be the company to which I had been receiving magazines from and fraudulently received my account information. I went to my bank and they helped me to deal with the charges and sent the information that I had in to the fraud investigators. I am sorry to say that I had to learn this the hard way, but this whole ordeal has taught me one good lesson. DO NOT GIVE OUT YOUR INFORMATION TO SOMEONE WHO CLAIMS TO BE WORKING FOR "THE COMPANY THAT SENDS OUT YOUR MAGAZINES."!!! You can not trust the intensions of them. Tell them that you will call back the company using the number that you already have for them to verify that they are who they say they are and that you are not giving out any information to posers.

misrepresentation
I just joined a magazine club and then I get a call from these people telling me they need to verify all the information of my account and magazine order. I thought it was the magazine club I just joined; because it was the same amount of money a month. Then I start to get build out of my checking account twice from two different magazine companies.

I called and got a confirmation order to cancel my membership because they tricked me into believing it was the other company. They keep sending me magazines when I canceled and now they say I owe them $334.60 and they will take me to a collection agency. I did my part and canceled why can't they do their part of the paperwork and follow thru with the cancellation.

I canceled my checking account too as they kept taking money out of my account. As far as I am concerned...It's over!

Misrepresntaion
A sales person contacted my son in college claiming they were master card, and had an offer for him of free magazines. All he had to do was confirm his credit card for them. Once they had his card he started getting monthly bills for $49.95 for a grand total of $1248.75 to be charged to his credit card, for magazines he does not want and did not request.

We would like to request that master card investigate this fraud, and will contact a lawyer

Unwanted magazine service
I was originally contacted by phone by a person saying he was with "my" reader service. He asked me many questions that he said were needed to confirm my account. As I do have a magazine service I mistakenly gave him info that I shouldn't have. I did not know that I would be signed up for another service. I started getting charges on my credit card in dec. 2009. I have made 20 calls to this company and they do not return my calls. I have contacted my credit card company to cancel the charges but I am tired of having to try to get mess with this.

Operating under false pretenses
They call and say that a lot of their customers are getting calls from other magazine outfits trying to sell them magazines. They say they want me to be aware of this and that I shouldn't order because then I would be getting double magazines of the same kind. They say that they are my magazine club group--I do have a magazine club I belong to but it is not Patriotic Readers Club. Anyway they want to verify my debit card info and address and they give me an ID number. I told them they should read the number I have listed with them. They tell me it is not available for them to see. They say they need me to verify all info. I should have known. I called my bank to red flag my debit card. Every day I get calls, same as the first one. I tell them they are not my magazine provider and they say, yes we are. I say, no you're not--click, they hang up. Live and learn the hard way--I just did. Signed---Can't Trust Anyone
