ASAP Handyman & Remodeling (ASAP) entered into a contract with us to provide us with a finished patio with pavers. Bob Nylund, a contractor from ASAP, came to our home to look at the location of where we wanted the patio to be constructed on 05-21-06. He did not take any measurements and told us to let the stone company know the dimensions of your patio and they will provide you with the correct amount of stone. Taking Bob's advice, we bought the material we thought was necessary to construct the patio and ASAP committed to provide the labor. The project commenced on 05-23-056. Bob Nylund brought 4 non-English speaking subcontractors to start creating a patio for us and immediately the main subcontractor, Alberto, said we did not have enough material. We ended having to go back to the stone company three more times to get more material due to the lack of knowledge, professionalism, attention, and quality given to our patio. I, Jen Bahun, stayed home on 05-23-06 for approximately 2 hours and watched the subcontractors rip up the first layer of grass, while Bob Nylund left the project and subcontractors unsupervised. I left for work thinking the subcontractors were going to begin to dig into the ground to excavate the dirt so that we would have a patio with paving stones level to the ground. To our surprise, when my husband and I got home, the subcontractors were laying pavers on a patio that was over 6 inches above the ground. We asked the subcontractors why our patio was raised and they could not explain anything to us because they did not speak English and Bob Nylund was nowhere to be found. We never asked for a raised patio and Bob Nylund admitted that this patio should not have been constructed to be above ground.
My husband gave Bob Nylund $100 cash for gas money, which is documented as received from Boy Nylund via email and $1500 for 1 day of work. Due to this incident, I lost complete confidence in ASAP and their ability to complete a quality patio of excellent workmanship and stopped the project to get a second opinion as to if the patio was being constructed properly.
