Account Frozen And Can’t Reach Customer Service
Paypal has frozen my account, this is the second time they have done this and I have no idea why this keeps happening. The first time they hadn’t verified my account, although it was registered as verified on the system, but I had reached a payment limit. Now they seem to be unhappy with a payment to Jessops which totalled less that 5 pounds, but if they looked at the payment it is clearly from me. All they want is to confirm my phone number which i have done, but the account is still locked!

I have some money in my PayPal account which i would like transferred to my bank account, but i can’t access the funds. I have been on hold for over half an hour with no suggestions from anyone, because nobody will answer the phone.

It is a bank holiday, but there is no message to say that Paypal offices are closed. I’m having to waste my time and probably my money trying to get my account unlocked. I have had to give up AGAIN and will try tomorrow.

For god’s sake, will someone please unlock my account! Paypal is supposed to be the easier payment option, but their jumped upped security protocol is making it the worst option! It’s a total nightmare.

Exchange Rate Scam
Ok so just like many of you, I have used PayPal for years. And even though the AUD is gaining steam over the USD these days, it seems Paypal is ignoring this fact.

Many times I have purchased items when XE.com says the exchange rate is well over 1.00, but paypal NEVER says the exchange rate is over 1.00. I guess they are ignoring this because they will lose out if they adhere to the real exchange rate since their business is USD based, and now we are paying for it.

I would suggest using any of the other money transfer services available, anything except Paypal. I for one am going back to VISA. Governments need to start regulating Paypal.

And thank you for your story B.R.L., whenever I call Paypal from now on I will be recording the calls and posting the recordings on youtube. Something tells me they will be a tad more accomodating under such circumstances.

Took My $1.95
I wanted to buy something from eBay, and for some reason I thought it be a good idea to get “PayPal verified”. So i gave PayPal my checking account information, and they withdrew $1.95 for their “verification process”, and said they would return the funds in a couple of days.

Since I don’t like credit cards, I paid for the above mentioned eBay item by e-check with my savings account. However, PayPal took the money out of my account before the date of the actual check clearing, and my bank account had 2 pending NSF fees because of this. Luckily I check all of my account balances everyday, and was able to replace the money in my savings account so i could avoid being charged $32.00 for each of the pending NSF’s.

I wasn’t satisfied with PayPal’s service after this, so I closed my PayPal account and they have yet to refund my $1.95!

PayPal is no good, and they are simply stealing peoples money.

Ebay Buyer changes mind after 3 1/2 weeks
I listed 2 separate items on eBay. The buyer contacted me and wanted to combine the two items and purchase them at a discount, to which I agreed.

The buyer paid by Paypal on Dec 6th, but after she received the item she contacted me to say it wasn’t what she thought..even though there were detailed descriptions and pictures for my auction.

I replied saying that the items were exactly as described and very well worth the price and thought that was the end of it. However, on Dec 28th I hear from Paypal that there is a problem and they freeze my account.

Is it my fault this person cannot see or read? They got exactly what they paid for and it was a very fair price, and now after Christmas they want the money back.

And without even hearing my side of this, Paypal freezes my account.

Account got limited for no apparent reason
Hello, I have a problem similar to this complaint. I am under 18 and I have used paypal for about 2 years. I have had over 50 sucessful transactions.

I recently put 750 dollars on my account from a Paypal Moneypak to order something for my uncle. I have don’t have a limit on my transactions, but the next day it said my account is limited. They want my passport, utility bill, Social Security and etc. Even if I was 18 I would not provide any of this because I find it unreasonable since I have used Paypal for 2 years and have had over 1, 000 Dollars before with no problem.

Hold placed on funds
We posted 5 items on E-bay to sell, and one sold within 2 days. Having done business this way in the past, we shipped the merchandise after receiving the payment. The customer was satisfied with his purchase and we thought things were going well and excited to continue in this venue.

Then we received an e-mail from Paypal stating that our funds would be held for 21 days. We are a small business and have never operated this way. Even when we accept credit card payments, we receive our money within 2 business days.

How is this legal? How can they justify making us ship the item before we receive payment, as if the customer decides to keep the item and reverse the charges, we are out the money and the item? What kind of business is this anyway? How can they be the worlds leading service merchant with this policy?

After we questioned this policy, the customer service representative hung up on me, then sent me another e-mail questioning our selling ability when we are a small business in south central Indiana that enjoys an excellent reputation. Over the past 7 years we have not had one negative customer feedback. Because of this, we will no longer sell anything on E-bay, use Paypal, or buy anything on E-bay. We will also spread the word not to use this service, and discourage customers and friends not to buy on E-bay as the only option available is to use Paypal.

Fraudulent Seller Behavior
I ordered a body part (fuel filler door) for my car from an upstate NY used auto parts company. The part was represented as being the correct color & ready to install. He painted the part himself and the color didn’t match- not even close. Vendor gave me only a 50% refund, and Paypal did not support me.

My lesson from this experience: N E V E R, EVER, EVER use Paypal again. Either Visa or Mastercard would have fully protected me in this case. Why on earth fool around with this “Paypal” nonsense if you can use good old Visa or Mastercard or, as in my case, find a vendor who takes a credit card.

I had an extremely straightforward case and Paypal did not protect me.

Credit cards are why mail order really took off in the USA & account for much of why consumers risk doing business with distant strangers. As far as I’m concerned, using Paypal is like sending a seller a certified bank check or cash.

Allowed Two Payments For Single Ebay Auction
I sold an item on ebay, with a quantity of 1 as buy it now. Two people paid for the item at the same time. Ebay caught this and allowed only one transaction to go through. Paypal, on the other hand, did not. So both transaction went through and I received 2 payments for the same auction.

When I contacted paypal I was told I needed to either produce the item or I would have to pay a fine for false advertising. After showing paypal the error had occured on their part and not mine or ebays, they still told me it was my fault and responsibility.

A representative with paypal lied to me. I am still disputing this with paypal. I will not let this matter go. I know I am not the first one that this has happened to, and I will not be the last. Paypal should have a safe guard in place to prevent this from happening.

To think we pay them a fee to use their services, and this is what you get.

Can’t get limitation lifted
Account balance was frozen when reached £1900.00. Have been trying since November to get the limitation lifted – have provided every piece of information requested by fax and uploaded directly via’ the resolution center.

It is now January and still in the same position. Have begged them to get someone to call me to discuss but no one ever does – do not know where to go from here. Have contacted the FSA today and requested their guidance – surely this must be holding money under false pretences.
