PC TOOLS Reviews

Cannot cancel false subscription
I noticed a payment from PC Tools for £29.99 come out of my account today (10/05/11) and queried it with my bank. It transpires this is a charge for a subscription I DID NOT AUTHORISE yet upon trying to contact PC Tools/Symantec my emails bounced back (apparently I need a licence code to take my complaint further - how when I never subscribed to a renewal in the first place?). I found out that they have a Reading-based office so I called them to be told my complaint could not be taken further and I had to call their Canadian or Australian numbers (how convenient). They wouldn't even provide me with an email address as they said they 'didn't have one', which in this day and age I find ridiculous. My bank have agreed to stop the payment but I am concerned they will still attempt to take the payment again in a year's time (it appears it has been happening yearly since 2008 - I'm surprised I've only just noticed it but more fool me for not being so vigilant). I'm not sure where I now stand with this. As I cannot contact the company I cannot view the terms and conditions I would have agreed to upon purchasing the original product. My bank have advised me to take this to the Trading Standards office in the UK. Does anyone else have any further advice? I can see this is a global phenomenon by the sheer amount of other people complaining about this very matter on this site, and I'm thinking of starting an awareness campaign but am afraid of the potential backlash (Symantec are a big company). Any advice?

THEFT OF YOUR MONEY
I am appalled at the contempt with witch PC tools treats their customers. After repeatedly receiving emails telling me to upgrade to the latest version of spyware doctor with antivirus, I did. With the result that it crashed my computer. I uninstalled it and contacted customer support who informed me that my operating system (Window s XP 64 bit) was not supported and that I could not get access to the old version. Also that I would not be refunded for the purchase of the product.
A long time after this, I get an email saying that if I dont register with their web site I will be billed for another years subscription. so I had to follow a convoluted process to stop having to pay againt for software they will not provide.

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM PCTOOLS

No support for unserviced product
I purchased a subscription for this company's product 'Registry Mechanic' with an advertised 30 day money back guarantee. When I used the product, it brought my operating system (which was compatible with the product) to a grinding halt. All my complaints and requests for support (Four) have been re-acted to with an automated response but have further simply been ignored. I attempted to post a complaint on their community forum [Hidden Web Address] only to find that I have been locked out of it. I wish to avail myself of the money back guarantee but have no way of getting a response out of them and fear the response may possibly only come after the 30 day period has elapsed.

It is flaud
I purchased PCT online in 2009. I used it for few times and tossed it away as I don't think it is very useful.

To my surprise, PCT charged my credit card on Aug 24, 2010 for auto-renewal w/o my authorization!
Much to my annoyance, I file a ticket asking for refund. As of I write this complain, there is no response from them (except the automatic confirm to the ticket I filed). I send a mail to them, again, no response.

I tried to register their forum and send a message to their forum. I am not able to register because they ban any email-address they don't know about.

I'm wondering how such evil company get away in the past few years.

Don't buy
After buying this program at Walmart and bring it home, first, it would not load, then you must register in order to get a code but their website stated I had no internet connection therefore, no code. They kept sending me auto replies that they had no record of me puchasing the program...BECAUSE I COULD NOT REGISTER IT or e-mail customer service. NO PHONE NUMBERS BUT there is a 24/7 support that I can not access because I HAVE NO CODE. It's just stupid, around and around I go. I just want my $20.00 back but can't even get an address. I think it's a bogus company!

I cancelled this product March 2009, they never refunded my initial payment, then they have just charged me 49.99 again over 1 year later after it was cancelled. They have charged my credit card witout my permission, this is not on, I have just sent them an email, we shall see what happens. I hate this company, they wont take NO for an answer. Sue
