IMPOSSIBLE TO CANCEL RENEWAL
PCTOOLS, has charged my credit card multiple times without my authorization through their auto-renewal program. I finally got them to stop here is how i did it: first, i have to say these guys are good, I mean really good, they have it figured out...they make you jump through several hoops to cancel, and most folks can't spend over an hour on the phone to cancel, and that is the only way you will be able to cancel (be sure to get an email from pctools before you hangup from the customer service clerk) first they say to cancel you must login to a link called "MY ACCOUNT", which they will never let you do, even though you request multiple times for a new password because they make you think you don't know your password, then after you have tried several times with the password they send to you and it will never let you in to cancel the renewal.

Try clicking on the "Chat Support" link, you will be assigned a que number (mine was #8) where you will stay at the same number for over an hour, so next try calling the number assigned for customer support for your country, good luck, they will answer but then they have it programmed to hang up immediately to kill the call. Like I said -these guys are good!! LOL, so I put it on auto redial and after about the 32 calls I got someone, and I explained that I worked for a law firm and was going to do my very best to start an investigation into the FRAUD that PCTOOLS is committing, but its ever so subtle how they are doing it. The mans name was Manuel Bailon, Customer Support Representative PC Tools Customer Support Services, he did laugh when I told him the time I spend and all the resources I used to get to the point of talking with him. He knows what is going on, but if you are READING THIS AND going through this same problem that I did, please contact the BBB and report it, that is what I have done, if they get enough of these complaints they will start an investigation and PCTOOLS will stop their scam. I estimate that probably 1 out of 10 customers will go to the trouble I did to cancel the renewal. I would love to to see a class action lawsuit against these guys.

Fraudulent Charges
When I purchased their product it crashed my computer. Had to spend a couple hundred bucks having it cleaned up. I never got any response from them on the problem. Now they have charged my credit card AGAIN!. The phone number the credit card company gave me isn't good. My only recourse is to either pay it or dispute the charge. What a scam!

crashes my computer
I went to CNET to download PCTools antivirus program. I used the 14 day "free trial" to determine if I wanted to purchase for a longer period. I decided to take another program, instead. While trying to remove the Browser Defender and PCTools components, everything on my computer crashed! I have remoeved the PCTool engine, yet it remains! They have evidently fixed this program so that it cannot be removed, if you do not want it.
I will never use CNET or PCTools ever again!

Fraudulent Charges
Like all the other complaints on this site for this same creditor, DRI*ELEMENT5.COM is the biller listed on my credit card charge today, but I did not order a renewal on this software since I now get McAfee for free from Comcast. I did not respond to their solicitation for renewal, but today the charge appears on my account for $29.95. How do I stop this permanently? The band says the only way is to change my debit card #.

Registry Mechanic
I purchased Registry Mechanic Online on 6 October 2009 because I was offered a 10% discount by PCTools. The discount was, however, not given when I went to the checkout and my credit card was debited with the full amount. No response was given to my several queries.
When I ran the product, it brought my PC to a virtual standstill. MSWord for example took two and a half minutes to load after using Registry Mechanic. My four requests for support have been ignored. I now wish to avail myself of their 30 day money back guarantee, but have no way of contacting them because I am locked out of their community forum and they continue to ignore me.

Termination of subscription
PCTOOLS automatically renewed my subscription and I cannot find out how to terminate it. Sent various E-mails to automated response systems that offer help only in pre-defined areas, never in how to close your account. This in itself is a sophisticated scam!!!
