Perfect Flame Split Lid Grills have been recalled and are dangerous. I just bought one for my husband for Father's Day this year and the Friday after July 4th he went into the hospital. Upon his release his Dr stated he needed to be on low fat low protein, as far as meat goes, diet.
We were both thrilled about his Father's day present once again. Just over a week later it was recalled. I thought i got a great deal and also thought at the price i got the grill at, just over $250 sale price, it may be an over stocked item from Lowes.
I researched this grill, of course after the purchase and found out many were very pleased with this model grill from Perfect Flame, back in 2004. But i got mine this year, 2008. And since 2006 there has been many complaints about this grill catching on fire and even some that 'spewed' chrome like molten lead when doused with a garden hose, that was the 'stainless steel'.
Also complaints about the burners corroding and having a hard time replacing them, screws needed to be drilled out and problems getting the burners reinstalled. Some even said the grill was not assembled properly by Lowes and was either missing parts or miss aligned.
I am sure Perfect Flame had gotten complaints at least 2 years before i bought my grill, so why did it take so long for them to recall it? I am very glad no one was hurt by this fire trap, especially children.
