On Monday 18th January 2010, I went to the Peri Deli branch in Rivonia to get myself some of thier delicious Mediterranean chicken strips. As I was standing by the counter, waiting for my order, it came to my attendtion that none of thier kitchen staff were wearing any form of protective or hygenice gloves. There was a griller putting chips into a box with his bare hands. Another woman was folding and unfolding a wrap that she was trying to make, again, with her bare hands. For anyone who has ever folded a wrap, you will know that this can be and almost certainly always is, a messy job. But, there she was, in full view of anyone who wanted to see her, folding the wrap with her bare hands. I think it is absolutely disgusting that Peri Deli would allow thier kitchen staff to handle peoples meals without any gloves. They claim to have a 'fresh' image... I didnt realise that fresh meant 'finger friendly food making' but I guess that's how they do things there.
I tend to wonder what a health inspector would say about peoples food being handled by bare hands...
