I had just recently bought a kitten ffrom the Wild Side pet store. A few days after purchase it became apperant that there was something really wwrong with him. The kitten started leaking fecal matter from his behind. It was a constant leak and blood was mixed in with the fecal matter. I took the kitten to the pet stores "approved vet". He said the kitty "probably" had a cold, and he prescribed antibiotics. It was very obvious that this was not the problem, so I called around to another vet and our local emergency vet clinic. They all told me that it sounded like the kitten had a parasite and most likely would dnot live through the weekend. I called the pet store and asked them if they would still take care of the bill since I had to take him to an emergeny vet. They informed me that I would have to bring the kitten back to thier store for them to look at him first. I asked them if they were vets, and they told me no. Iasked what the point would be taking him to them when he needed medical attention. hey informed me that they needed to see the kitten for themselves to determin if he needed to see a vet. I took the kitty to them and they told me that yes they thought it was a serious probblem but the most they would do would be to give me my money back. When I asked if the cat would get medical attention they told me he would. So I asked them why not take the cat make him better and then give him back to me, or allow me to take the kitten to the vet and they could take care of the bill? They informed me that i could either get my money back for the cat or take on the responsability of vet bills myself. I could not understand this at all, if they were willing to keep the cat and get him healthy on thier own why could they not make him healthy and then give him back to me? This strikes me as very suspisious behaviour, and I am very concerned about the health and saftey of all the animals that come from this store. The entire process was very unpleasant. The staff at the wild side were very rude, and dealt with this whole situation very badly. I would never shop at thier store ever again. And I would reccomend that no one purchase an animal from thier store.
