Assaulted at PetSmart in Whitby by manager Don Lee
I visited the PetSmart store in Whitby, Ontario, Canada to purchase packets of Whiskas tender bites food for my newly adopted cat. So this was my first visit to the store. As I was searching in the cat food aisle, I received a text message on my phone that I was expecting from a friend. I immediately removed my phone from my coat pocket and responded and put the phone back into my pocket. I then see a man quickly approach me from the other end of the aisle, at which point he violently shoves me up against the aisle, refusing to let me go. A female customer in the store came to my aid after hearing me shouting and screaming and told the man to get his hands off me. I then realize that it was the stores general manager Don who just assaulted me, and he was accusing me of stealing and asked me to empty my pockets. I asked the the female customer to call the police and refused to empty my pockets until they arrived. Two police officers arrived approximately five minutes later as we all waited in the aisle. This immediately caused a spectacle in the store, as dozens of customers and employees watched as the police questioned us. The police asked me to remove everything in my pockets, only to find my cell phone and car keys. I did not steal anything! A police report was filed, however no charged were laid because I decided I would like to address the issue with a civil action(I am currently planning a lawsuit with my lawyer). I was never given an apology by Don, I only received an email from PetSmart head office with an apology which seemed like an automated message after complaining to them after the incident. I will never visit this store again as this was the most appalling and embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me!

Constantly followed while shopping
Pet Smart on Thomas & 37th Street, Phoenix. The 1st time I went into the store I was shopping for cat food. As I turn to check out, I almost walked into security because he was that close watching me picking out catfood flavors. I had no idea how long he stood there. I say excuse me, go check-out & leave. The second time I go in, I first check to see if they have a certain cat-tree in the store I had seen online. It's about 5 1/2 ft tall & a little heavy. So I go back to get a cart & go back to pick up the tree. Out of the corner of my eye, the same security guard is watching me again. That's when I stopped & looked at him, then he went on like he was doing something. I'm not the only one in the store shopping, I'm just the only one who's black, so I guess that "sparked" a problem. Needless to say, I left the cat-tree there, I now shop at Petco.

Grooming-Policy
Took my dog in to get her nails done like I have every month for the last two years. Today, prior to the groomer taking my dog, I informed her that I needed to put a muzzle on her (like every time I have her nails done) just as a precaution. The groomer stated that she needed to be the one to put the muzzle on. Now, would you attempt to put a muzzle on a dog that does not know you? I informed her that I preferred to do it as if anything were to happen, I did not want to liable. This dog has never bit anyone, just being cautious. Anyway, told her to get the manager, and he stated that this was policy. So, it's their policy to subject their employees to potential harm by having them muzzle a stranger's dog. Never been advised of this in the past, so I told the manager that they just lost a customer.

Grooming
I took my lhasa to Petsmart in Cranberry, and I have noticed that interns are awful at grooming for one, but I must say the lady manager who usually does his hair is amazing.

My puppy cut usually cost me $40. I was told that he couldn't get a puppy cut anymore, but since over the phone they said I could they alowed it, but it cost $65. Since the intern did it the job was awful! The manager was there but didn't look over her work! I was mad.

I also notice that when You make an apointment for 11, and bring in the dog a half hour early, you won't see your dog again till about 4pm! This is rediculous. The manager who does his hair will putz around and take random breaks and a long lunch break! Most do this. I also see dogs who come in after me get done right away! They also get more done than what I come in for! WTF!

In my opinion they should do all the jobs that are scedualed before lunch break bc we don't have all day to wait for our dogs! They need to be more organized with time! Five and a half hours is way to long for a hair cut, I can understand 2, but 5! Too much, plus the price is never acurate!

I always thought that since my apointment is at 11 that they should be able to work on my dog at that time if I bring him in a half hour early! I make that apointment so he can be worked on generaly around that time, not to be worked on hours later! I don't want to bring him in at 8 or 9 bc I can't!

I constantly come back hour after hour to check up on him. I don't see him get started till 3! He is done by 4ish! An hours work that was suppose to start at around 11, takes about an hour to do, but doesn't get started till 3! It just doesn't make sense! I get really angry at the people who get worked on before me who came in after me and have larger fluffy dogs! Its a crapshoot that is totally unorganized.

On a positive note I have not had any problems with injuries!

The vet next to it is pretty good, but they add rediculous charges and stuff they think my dog needs, but they are the vet so IDK.

Over all other than time money and sometimes crappy haircut, petsmart isn't too too bad!

Pet Contracts
C.A.R.E (Companion Animal Rescue Effort)- who are affiliated with PETSMART. We sadly learned something today. We would not suggest anyone buy a pet from them. Always read the fine print on the contract that you sign. You are adopting a pet from them, your name is the owner, but they have legal rights to the pet over you.
We almost got a dog this weekend. Our neighbor got a dog, 2 months ago from them - the contract says the dog is about 2 yrs old and her vet said the dog was more likely 8 years old. Big difference! Anyway, she was telling us about having some issues with the dog's indoor bathroom behavior, and that she had just called the company to let them know that she would be returning the dog the next day. We asked her if we could try the dog to see how she was with our pets and if okay, we could then adopt her. She called the place to say she wouldn't be returning the dog and they said she didn't have legal rights to the dog anymore and that she must return the dog or they would sue her. We went down there together the next day to discuss it, and they took the dog from her and wouldn't even let us adopt the dog. I expressed that I didn't think they couldn't just take her dog from her and they said that they legally could...it's in the contract. We were all upset. I got the impression that the workers at C.A.R.E. are only there for the money not the welfare of the dog. Truly, a poorly run company with a terrible contract. That poor dog was put back into a kennel and going to be out there to be re-adopted. I guarantee they will promote the dog with the false age and say nothing about the indoor bathroom issues, just to make money. I am sad to report that I will never shop in Petsmart again and if I would like to get another pet, I will definitely get one from a friend who dog had a litter or the pound, and then they are legally ours, period.

groomin gservice
I went to petsmart on march 4 to get my dog groomed. my dog is old englosh sheepdog. In the morning around 9:30am, i called them to make a appointment and also asked for a quote. Idropped him off around 12:00, they let me sign a contract about dematting and the service price, and I did. they told me to pick him up around3:30. I arrived there around 3:40. they told me they still working on it and told me to wait one more hour. I saw him stand on the table quietly and the lady stand beside me told me that he is a good boy. Two hours passed, my baby dog was finally done, the groomer showed me some area might have skin irritation and i have to avoid him chewing and licking. the groomer also recommended a skin irritation spray for my dog. When I got my bill from the groomer, I was so shocked, it wasnt the price that I signed on the contract. I told them about the price, they said they put my dog under the wrond category, so the price went up $30 more. I clearly told them that I called them to check the price for three times and the price on the contract was same with the one i checked. The store manager gave me a really ugly look and reluctantly changed the price for me. After I got home, my family noticed that his body was all red, I explained the skin irritation to them and asked them to keep eyes on him. the next day, I noticed his ears were bleeding, his testis were bleeding, his bobtail had a serious hot spot and some other slashes all over his body. I took him to petsmart again, the store manager told me to see a vet and they gonna pay the vet bill for me. I went to the vet, they told me it was definetly caused by the groomer. I also discussed the contract i signed about dematting . But they still understand it was caused by the groomer. Then i took the vet bill to petsmart and wait for their call. two weeks passed, I didnt receive any call from them. so I decided to call them 30 mins ago, they told me they dont believe it was caused by them, they believe all the wounds are caused by him chewing himself. It was so ridiculous, and their attitude was really bad. I am so disappointed about their service and attitude. it's like I trust them so I let them groom my dog but they ended up hurting my dog. they let me felt like I sign up a contract to kill my own son. and they dont even apologize to me. It's been two weeks already, he is still bleeding, his testis and his bobtail. they told me they are going to review my vet bill and probably return me the money but they also mentioned they never believe they was caused by them...

GROOMING INJURY
My dog was groomed in the East Hartford Ct. store. She was cut and bruised. We ended up in the emergency room at midnight ..back again 6:00 A.M. next morning...I asked for just the $45 back in grooming fee. Did not even ask for $200 in Dr. bills and meds and they refused me. I am now very angry and am taking this to small claims court. I have informed my lawyer and we are moving forward with this immediately. My dog is just a year old tomorrow and is a Lhasa Apso

grooming
I agree, , Never will use them again..I have had my pomeranians nails trimmed there for almost four years...I made an appointment to get him a full service groom one day while getting his nails trimmed..On the day of his appontment the nasty girl who was working asked for his rabbies papers..I told her that they had them already on file(my vet had faxed them before). She said no they didn't because my dog had never been there. I explained that he had come there every month for the last three years, and that he was just there the day befor. She continued to argue that I was wrong. I spoke with the manager about this and he said he was sorry..Thats it..No more story..No lets take care of it or nothing...

Dog
My dog is a shnug, a small to medium size dog, still a puppy, 9 months old, not hard to groom but i still like to take him to get it professionaly done, I have taken him two times before this to my local petsmart which when i say local i mean a half hour away from me!!! His apointment was 12:30 in the afternoon, since i dont live fairly close to them i choose not to waste the gas and stay around the area and wait. I got there around 12:15 and checked him in and they told me it would be about 4 hours. No problem. I left and waited and waited for them to call me to tell me my puppy was done getting groomed. Around 4:00 pm i get worried and went back, i asked where my dog is and they tell me he is not even there! They check and yes he was there, sitting in a damn cage for over 4 hours because at that time it was on 4:30. Not only was my dog NOT groomed but they tried to give me an excuse of a hose being in front of the cage?(I never cage my dog for any reason) I dont understand how a dog goes unseen for that long. I was told someone tried to call me, but that was a lie because i recieved NO call. The woman who checked me in was also still there when i was leaving, you would think that she would have noticed as well when they were saying he was a no show, or when they were supposivly trying to contact me, or even maybe told the woman who was actually a groomer that her 12:30 had arrived! BUT NO. The manager came and apologized and offered a free groom the following day, which is another half hour there and back but the wait for him again! I feel like that is no were near enough owed to me. I am highly pissed. I do NOT recomend anyone to take there dog there again without assuring they know your damn dog is there!

Service people are not smart
I tried to buy some fish at Petsmart Surrey BC, Canada. I have a gift card given to me by my sister last Christmas. Thought I will buy and add fish to my community tank collection.

At the store, told this saleslady to catch fish in the CORY tank without marks and medium to large size. She just netted what she can catch and told me they are fast and its hard to catch what I would like buy, and I should just take what she caught. She caught random fish, some ugly, with marks, small and thin and one is looking like at the bottom of hierarchy/sick. Told her I am an aquarist I cannot accept what she likes me to own eh. They will be in my fish tank nice and pretty that i wish to admire everyday when feeding them. I guess she did know the difference between fish keeper and aquarist or this lady has no knowledge in fish keeping either.(Not all fish are the same to a hobbyist). Told her I am in fish hobby for 15 years and I can help her catch the fish if she has no patience. =) Called the manager, manager seems to have the same stand of no choices. I guess they can only sell fish to the little kids but not to us serious hobbyists. I walked away.
