I'm aware of the fine print that your phone rep pointed out to me.
Technically, I guess that's how you get away with the shoddy
practice of taking advantage of consumers with weight issues.
Your company leads people to believe that by filling out the online
medical questionnaire, that their submission will be handed off
to a 'case worker' for review. Further, by asking purchasers to
provide the name and number of their primary physician, another
trust is established in the mind of the consumer that this whole
process is legitimate.
No one from your company ever called or emailed me to advise that
my submission did not qualify for the product I'd intended to order.
You simply changed the product, knowing full well that this would
result in confusion and frustration. The supplement that you provided
in exchange is available at any health food store at a tenth of the cost.
Furthermore, if I _had_ a prescription written, why would I bother mailing
it to you to be filled? I'd simply take it to my pharmacy and fill it myself
for a $10.00 co-pay.
Even though you and your affiliates can trick people into a bogus purchase,
it doesn't make it right; upon investigation online (which I should have done
first), I see where there are hundreds of angry comments on various
websites warning people of your business practices. You had no right to
arbitrarily change the order without offering me an alternative, or the
chance to cancel the order altogether.
I appreciate your responding and refunding my money. It's my hope that
businesses like this will continue to be exposed to the light of day, so
that the millions of people with weight loss issues will not continue to be
taken advantage of.
