Defective TV/DVD Player
In June, 2007, while home on R & R Leave from the Gulf War, my wife and I purchased a TV, with an In-component DVD Player. Model Number 32MD251D/37. Within a month of purchase, the DVD player began to freeze up after playing a DVD for about ten minutes. This continued, and I filed an order to have Philips send someone out to look at the TV/DVD component. I was informed that someone from Minuteman TV would be out to look at it, and review for a possible repair. This agency never showed. I finally contacted Minuteman when I returned home from the War. He said that he no longer repaired or replaced these components, because they never lasted, and he had to always send them back to Philips for a full replacement. With that, I contacted Philips again, and they never returned my phone calls, my emails, or complaints. I eventually received notice to purchase an extended warranty, which I did, in hopes of getting the equipment repaired... To make a long story short; after numerous complaints, and reports to the BBB, my State Senate, Cosumer Agencies, and so forth, Philips finally found an agency to look at and repair the DVD player, in the TV. They showed up, determined that the Player needed to be replaced, and they ordered it. I received a phone call from this agency within days, and Philips has denied the order, and the process to fix the player, stating that it was a "Pre-existing condition", and they would not pay for it. Now, I am still in the process of all of this, 16 months after purchase, and still don't have resolve. I have continued to file complaints against Philips and the extended warranty contract company, until this is fixed. I go online, and call the BBB every day, and continue to file complaint, after complaint, and continue to contact the extended warranty company, along with Philips. I am so frustrated with the whole process, and don't know what to do anymore...
