1.Back in December 2008 I approached Plan for some Vans, the lady that got my order was as good as gold but just before I got the Vans, I received a call to tell me that 1 of the vans had crashed. I was then told that I will be getting a newer van to what I was going to get. The vans came to me on the 11th of December 2008 and the same day my driver got in the van to complete a job, he went on the M25 J28 towards Dartford tunnel. As he was driving along he tried to slow down but the van would not stop and luckily he has more than 25 years driving experience, he managed to stop the van without crashing. We called Plan, two hours or more later someone went where the driver was but could not work on the van because the wheels were still hot, so they towed the van back to my yard leaving me out off pocket for the day because I had to pay a day's wage to the driver + passing on the job to another firm. We asked for a replacement van and got it the following day after 11.30am, meaning that again I had to pass over my morning job. The van did not get looked at for more than a week and when someone came to look at it he said you were very lucky to have stopped this van because there were no brake shoes. He could not fix it on the spot so he called for a tow truck to take it away. We thought in about two to three days we will have it back but until end of February no one within the company knew where that van was( we were told).
2. The same van had a very strong cigarette smell that when driving you needed to open the windows, as you are aware it is illegal to smoke in a works vehicle. This was pointed out to Plan several times but to no avail. How can a company lease a vehicle out like that? Was the van serviced before coming over to us as we were told that it would be before coming? How many people are being killed on the roads due to companies like Plan? I think this is one for the courts to order companies like this to recall each and every vehicle on their fleet to be checked by VOSA or government body like that to make sure that companies like plan are not just after making lots of profit by not maintaining the vehicles properly.
3. One of the two vans broke down while all this was happening, called on a Thursday spoke to a lady who handles the brake down calls and she told me that someone will be calling me back. No-one called, so I called back the following day but I was told that no one knew any thing about what I was talking about and was told to call back on Monday. I then called back on Monday only to be told again that someone would call me back and no one did until the Tuesday when I called again, thats when I got a call from someone who thought I could do with a replacement van after 6 days of not working. When I raised all these issues I was told it was down to me, they said they tried to call but my phone was not working and this coming from a company that asked for everything about me & my company. They had my new number that was given to the lady when I was reporting the van and they had my email address which is on my application form. We all want to make aliving but I think this is not the right way of doing it.
ITS TIME TO CHANGE THESE COMPANIES.
