Uninformed about student membership
To whom it may concern,

I've joined Planet Fitness in February this year at Moreleta Village, and I've found some concerns with the way I've been treated during my assessment. I am a second year educational student, and the consultant didn't inform me about the student membership option, neither the specials or once off payments. I am on the Premier VIP regional, and pay R350 p.m for 36 months. -and double levy during December. The consultant was very unhelpful, and subsequently i made a decision and I feel I was wrongly informed. I would like to know if is could be possible to change my acount to a student acount and if so, could anyone help me to solve this matter?

Unfriendly staff/missbilling.
I have been a member of Planet Fitness in Lutherville for a couple of years.Some of the staff that work there are rude and unfriendly.They won't greet members or even answer questions.Sometimes the gym is really dirty and unclean.I have heard that there is staff infection going around the gym.Also I had a debit card stolen so I had a late fee and the gym waited months to tell me about it.I want to warn other people about this.Maybe their service will improve one day.

unethical & Unfprofessional
The manager at this facility Albert Grier is the most unethical and unprofessional individual that I have ever dealt woth in my life (mind you I work for the government and deal with different types of people daily). I had over a month attending the gym and never had a picture taken and on 4/1/09 I go in and was told that I had to take a picture. I told them nicely that I'd do it any other day because I was not in the mood and that I have a month attending and they wanted to take it on that specific day. The manager threaten to cancel my membership that is after he hunt me down across the gym like if I was some type of perpetrator, I agreed to take the picture just to be left alone and go on with my workout.
Then on 4/3/09 I go in and am working out with other members of the gym and Mr. Grier comes by and says that we are making to much noise and once again threatens to cancel everyone's membership this time. at this point I'm annoyed because I'm not going there for free plus I have a contract. He then says that I can't continue doing the 30 minute express workout because I was doing it wrong so I then go and hit the weights just so I don't have to hear his mouth and he goes up to the machine I was in and stops it and says I have to get up and leave the premesis. At this point I'm beyond upset and he says he will call the police I guess to intimidate me but I know my rights as a law abiding citizen and said do as you please. I then call the authorties on him as well and ask to speak to management and he says that there is none and tells all of the employees not to speak to me. I waited for the police to come and explained my concern along with 12 witnesses that I had. He was just concerned with cancelling my membership and he sure did. So I contacted The Better Business Bureau. The federal Trade Commision, Consumer Affairs and filed a complaint against him with the police.
When you try to contact their management company it seems that no one is around to answer your concerns.

Bad Management/Bad Business
My experience with Planet Fitness in Addison, IL has been the same as all the other complaints on this board and other complaint boards across the web. We are all saying basically the same thing... limited equipment, rude management, and staff that is severly lacking in knowledge and courtesy!
The bathrooms are always dirty and out of soap. The front desk staff is useless. They even border on "shy"! They look intimidated by other gym members, and they don't make eye-contact.

I would also like to add that the maintenance of the gym is virtually non-existent!! 4 of the 12 treadmills have been out of order for 3 months. They also haven't been cleaned is as long. They are an inch deep in grimy, filthy, dust balls! Recently, I discovered that the spray bottles they fill up with "cleaning solution" for members to wipe down the equipment is no longer being filled with cleaning solution. Now the bottles are only being filled with simple tap water!! I find that revolting!
What really infuriated me was when I found the free weights I use to work out my biceps, were being used outside on the sidewalk to prop the door of the gym open!!! What kind of a substandard organization uses the equipment that SHOULD BE for its members to prop open a door???

When I confronted the GM, Terry, he told me that he didn't appreciate my attitude and made it seem like I was the one who was wrong! Astounding! Last time I checked, I pay a monthly fee to be a member!! Now I realize that I am only wasting my money on a club that doesn't respect itself or its members. The GM's lack of concern for his own club's maintainance and upkeep mirrors the same concern he has for paying club members!!!

Bogus Billing
My Son joined the US Marines on January 20, 2009. Before he left for Boot Camp he cxl'd his memebership at Planet Fitness. However they continue to bill him and charge him late and services fee. He left with a zero balance and now they have an outstanding balamce of $180.00. We have called them and told him that my son cxl'd his memebership, that he is in Boot camp, and that they should not be charging them. They just ignore our phone calls, are refuse to respond to any of our inquiries...all they keep doing is charging him and adding late fees. This is disgarcefull that they are allowed to continue to do this especially to someone who is serving their country.

accounting/membership
I went in to cancel membership for myself and for husband on Jan 20, 2009. I told the gentlemen that I wanted to cancel membership for myself and husband's membership. He gave me a form to sign and told me that was all I had to sign and that the automatic debit would cease as of the end of that week 1.23.09. An automated debit was taken out again on 2.17.09 for $10.00 and then again on 3.17.09 for $10.00. Contacted the Montgomery office and spoke with the manager, Anthony Hall. He stated that my husband had to come in and fill out a separate form to cancel services. I was not told this by the other employee. I was trying to close my account that they were debiting from and my bank charged me an overdraft fee of $35.00. So I am owed by Planet Fitness, a total of $55.00.

non transferable membership
I was given a one year membership for one year at planet fitness for xmass.I started in jan 09
in feb the next month i was tranfered for work to another state (with other planet fitnesses. I told them of the situation and asked if i could use the 10 remaining months at another location because I had moved an over an hr away each way . They siad no because it had already paid for in full and if i didnt get the cheapest option i could have. I explained it was a gift and my sister was trying to be nice a pay it in full for the year as a presant she wasnt being trying to be cheap. The staff was always eating their take out food behind the counter and you had to flag them down to pay for you waters and i had to strain to here the music playing .

cancelation of membership
I am finding it impossible to cancel this membership. They will not cancel by phone, the haven't canceled when I returned a bill and noted the cancelation. They will not cancel in person. This is a scam and I will never take another membership with this gym nor will I ever recomend anyone else do so. I was never advised at the time of taking out this membership that there were problems to cancel the membership other than a required amount of time to be a member which we have completed. Can you suggest a way to get the message to this company that I am no longer a member and will not be paying any further bills. Thank you Debbie Kenny [email protected]

rude service and mean employees
my husband went to planet fitness a total of two times. The location where he went is not clean at all. The showers were not clean with paint chipping all over them. The machines were not clean after people used them so you saw dried spit and sweat on the machines. When I called to let the location know that my huband will not be coming back because of the unhealty conditions of their fitness center, I was told I would have to pay. That is no problem, but when I went further on to ask about speaking to a manager the man on the phone (mike) was giving me different times to call back and then in a harsh tone state " look lady" and laughing when I told him that was rude. I would advise everyone to be careful joing a fitness area that does not like to treat their customers with respect.
