Commercial
I was watching t.v. when a Planet Fitness commercial came on. I belong to this gym and have always liked it...until I saw this commercial. PF is supposed to be a "judgement free zone" However in their commercials they demonstrate the opposite!! Especially in the one that shows a body builder type man getting a tour of the gym. They have him repeating "I pick things up and put them down", then they shut him out of the building. I don't know how PF thinks this is a good commercial. All this commercial tells me is that PF judges either muscular people or developmentally challenged people! Therefore they are a judgment zone. I no longer want to give my money to a gym that advertizes their ignorance. They basically say that people who fit the criteria of the man on the commercial are not welcome in that gym! This is discrimination!

Scams
Planet Fitness is great for the $10 sign up charge, but that is as far as it goes. The equipment is always malfunctioning. I have seen several leaks inside the facility, not to mention that the staff has little to know knowlede about fitness and or training. The one staff member that I did come across that was fit and has some knowledge of workout plans was a scammer. Who snuck and charged money for services that I later found out is supposed to be friend, but I guess since he was the only staff member in the facility that was anything close to being a trainer I guess he had the market cornered. Planet fitness was well aware of the scam going on and it took them months to even address the issue, and witihin that time did not to make the customers aware of what was going on. To top it off the trainer went so far as to try to borrow money from me. Prior to all of this happening I had recommended several friends to this gym because of the price, however I would recommend NO ONE to train or workout here it is not worth the hassle this place is totally unprofessional and needs to start again from scratch.

Rude Staff
Very rude staff, they are not trained to handle customers.They threaten you with their body language and serious stares.For a moment you feel like u r in a lawless land.I guess the treatment reflects the price a junk place .All their equipment is broken and there is no replacement...

Women's Right Violations
I went to the Planet Fitness in Westland, MI. on 2/25/11 and at 8:30pm I had just got out of the shower and went directly across to the stall on the other side when shortly after a male employee came in the locker room and announced himself. After he did so, so did I and proceeded to tell him that I was indeed completely undressed. He then proceeded to clean the shower that I had just used neglecting the fact that I was right across from him necked. I was in complete shock, I soon after, fully clothed myself and left, I am completely horrified and shaken up.

Hope to break every window at planet fitness
I posted a previous post which I sent my cancellation through and nobody responded. After my post a few people responded and put a notice on my debit. My contract ran from 10 May 2007 - 8 May 2010, and I have the original contracts stating paid joining fee and card fee, R300 + R50. The Upfront membership fee was written as R300 on the contract but the balance amount was scratchd out by Godfrey saying it is my 1 month free gym which we brought pamphlets in for the special. I even went into the gym beginning of May 2010 to ensure the debit wont go off my wife and I's accounts and they showed me on screen at the gym no debit amount would go off. True to good old planett fitness the debits went off on both our accounts which we reversed and stopped any debit at the bank. Now my account shows a balance of R404 for each gym membership which is even above what we used to pay after the crazy increases of R384.

They are trying to charge me for 37 months!!! They take weeks to get back to you and when my membership was about to expire I received 2 phone calls a day to re apply. When they want your business they bother you constantly after that you are all alone.

Favoritism
The contract states no children under the age of 13 years are allowed in the facility. The last 4 times I went to work out, there was a kid sitting by his or her parents. They were not bothering anyone. I didn't mind at all. The kids were maybe 10 years old. Definitely NOT 13. So I figured, they broke the rule for these people, I would bring my child with me to sit by me, while I worked out. But I was rudely, and I mean rudely told that I was not able to bring my child with me, and that I had to leave. I had just walked in the door. I told them I understood the rule, but why were the other children allowed to sit by their parents. (The kids were not there this day.) The woman said they never break the rule. I told her I had seen it numerous times. She said I was mistaken. I don't mind being turned away for trying to break the rule, but if I see another kid there, I will be complaining very loudly. Why favoritism?

locker rooms
this gym needs more security, my girlfriend's $200.00 jacket got stolen from the women's locker room, around noon time on 2/9/11 i wouldn't recommend this gym..

Dont want to cancel my membership
Sales guy says... We will HELP you where we can. we can put your membership on hold for 3 months in case of job loss or what ever and help you selling your contract again if you don't want it... 'Bull **** story '

I am a member at Planet fitness in Kuilsriver. I was retrench in December 2009 and went to them and ask if I could put a hold on it till I am employed again and they said no.

So I went to the bank to stop the debit order and ABSA told me that the Planet fitness must change it on their systems. OK
Went back to planet fitness and the manager Errol said that they will change it so that I can pay it cash every month.. I told him that I cant afford it because i don't have any income...

he said that I signed for a 3 year contract and told him no I did not. When I took my contract out I said to the guy that I will only sign the contract if he can change it to a 1 year with the option to extend for the other 2 years.

Now they don't want to cancel it. I know a lot of people that have this problem...

Planet Fitness do not care
We are going to loose the best Yoga teacher they ever had at Planet Fitness because the club so-called music that is pumped through the gym. Several times we have asked for the music to be turned down a bit so we can hear the yoga instructor but he just do not care at all. It is only for 1 hour on a Wednesday morning between 7 and 8. Most gym-goers listen to their ipods anyway an would not care about the music at all.

Good yoga-instructors are hard to find and no instructor should try to teach underthese conditions.

Possibly the worst agreement I have ever signed
I have made no greater mistake than being pressurised into renewing my gym contract in the latter part of last year.

This tends to occur when you receive daily phonecalls and the sales agents are so pushy that you realise the only way to lose them is to give in. Plus the promise of a free local holiday which turned out to be a leaflet for low cost accommodation around South Africa. Not exactly what i was expecting, but that's marketing for you I guess.

I have been battling with them ever since. Long story short, I signed on for an additional 3 years on a 12 month budget period debit order which they happily executed on. This has been going off wonderfully every month and Nedbank has been charging me the transaction fee and the interest for the debit order as well. (approx R60 per month)

The issue is that to this day, PF have not activated my account & so Ive not been able to go into any of their gyms. So they’ve taken my money, but no access to the facilities. Ive contacted them on numerous occasions and advised them that I wished to cancel my contract and wanted the full amount to be paid back to me. They still haven’t done this and unless I contact them, I get nothing!
