Rip off
Planet fitness and there rip off rules is the worse company in the united states. Besides the uneducated staff of lo life that find it to be a problem with helping clients, I joined the gym online in April and was so turned off when i went to ask for tour i never went back. Now im being charged 29 dollars for the annual fee this place is the biggist joke since New York fitness that sold membership to a gym that opened months after it was supposed to and without the hird floor and boxing. I hope to get my $29 fee returned

I joined the gym using Discovery Vitality card. The Institution is charging me full amount and double for that matter. Now I stopped paying them and they took me to ITC. I want them to demonstrate to me why I am being charged double from the beginning of the contract and why was i paying a full membership fee. Loss of contract & empty promises
I applied for a gym membership (through Edgars Club) on the 29.09.09, and had paid for my gym tag on the same day and was told that my tag would be ready in approx. 2weeks from the day. They had made copies of my Club card details as well as ID detail to process my membership through Edgars head office. During the 3 weeks after I had applied for my membership, Planet Fitness still asked me a further 2 times to submit copies of my Club card details so that they may submit the details through to Edgars head office. On 04.11.09 I went at approx. 16h30 to gym to enquire if my tag was ready as it already been over a month, the lady at the front desk went to enquire. Upon her return she informed me that my contract as well as relevant documents cannot be found, and I must submit my copy of the contract so that they can process my membership again. I feel that this is very unprofessional as the lost documents have personal details.

Pathetic service as well as attitude
On 19 August 2009 I was contact by Planet Fitness Hennopspark, Centurion to inform that I was selected by one of their members for a R500, 00 voucher to attend the gym free for one month. As all sales talk, I had to just come in to collect my voucher. Arriving at Planet Fitness on 24 August I was met by BRUCE who took me to one of the cubicles to waste my time with lots of sales talk about the gym. After convincing me to take this 'last offer on this special' for a three year membership for R6 080, 00, Bruce put the amount through on my credit card confirming that I have 5 days within which I can cancel the agreement and be credited completed, because I preferred discussing it with my husband first. I was first told that I could only be credited after 30 days. VARIOUS telelphone calls Bruce and then with Dennis, as well as e-mails, with NO decency to contact me back, I UP TO DATE (more than 60 days later) still do not have the refund of my R6 080, 00. Three payments of R226, 00 was already taken from my account on this amount. My last call (3 weeks ago) was to inform Dennis that I was to hand this over to an attorney which he commented that it was fine I can do that if I want!

When a machine is broken they take forever to service it
Basically there is a Chest excercise machine...and where you place your arms...The equipment is loose...This machine has been like this for 2 months. The fact that Planet fitness is a huge organization they should fix it within a week or pay for it to be replaced. It;s such a simple thing to deal with and im a little frustrated that no one has done anything about it !

In general when a machine is broken they take forever to service it...It should be a 1, maybe 2 week process.

Continue to deduct money after cancellation letter
First of all, when my girlfriend joined this gym 3 years ago, I went to Virgin because it was cleaner and has better equipment. I had trouble two years back when my girlfriend fell ill. She recieved a letter from the doctor saying she can't do any exercise anymore. When we went to the gym to try cancel the contract they said that even though the had a back condition and they could see she couldn't use the equipment she could still float around in the pool so they would not allow us to cancel the contract.

I then complained on hello peter they contacted me telling me that they have a clause in the contract saying that they do not cancel contracts for any medical conditions and if we want we can sell the contract (which nobody wants to buy)

So anyway, I've paid R6000 over two years for a contract she can't use, it came to the end of the contract, we wrote a letter of cancellation which they told us to do, dropped it off, and as I suspected they say they have lost the letter and continue to debit her account!!!

I'm not surprised, I expected this from you guys.

Canceling Membership
Recently due to a toe injury I hadn't gone to the gym so I decided to cancel my membership. So I sent a certified letter stating I wanted to cancel my membership and they did the problem is that day I mailed the letter out they took $30 out my account for a yearly fee and now they refuse to refund my money b/c they state I had to cancel membership before Sept 24, 2010. so be careful.

Planet Fitness unwilling to cancel contract
I am in the process of relocating due to work and as there is no Planet Fitness anywhere near the area i have to move too i called in to ask about cancelling my contract. I first speak to this obnoxious lady on the phone that didn't even want to hear anything and just kept saying, 'you can't cancel your contract, you have to sell it' over and over again. I then asked to speak to a manager and get through to another person (who i seriously doubt was a manager) who basically tells me the same thing and didn't want to hear anything about it..

Neither of them was even concerned about my situation and the attitude was second to none...

After reading through this site, i actually cannot believe that the shareholders of this organisation are even concerned about the extremely bad rep that the brand is getting.. Maybe that is why they have so few gyms around the country because the demand for their 'exceptional' service is so low!

I invite someone from PF to get in touch with me to sort this out right away!!

I am still not able to use the gym as they are incompetent of helping clients
I signed up with the gym when they were doing there pre-opening subscriptions in Nov 2007, with the understanding the gym would be open within a month or 2 at the latest. The gym only ended up opening a year or so later. From the start the gym deducted amounts off my bank account. I called and left repeated messages, no one ever called me back. Starting a few months ago I got sales calls from the gym wanting to sell me a subscription, then I have to repeat the story to them and they promise that a manager will call me back in an hour. The only call I ever get is from the next sales person. I went to the gym 10 days ago and they said my contract was canceled but it would be sorted out in 2 days and I could now start to use the gym. I went back today and they know nothing about it. I am still not able to use the gym as they are incompetent of helping clients!
