The same thing happened to me with the Platinum Services unauthorized withdrawl from my checking account. I bank with a credit union and today (6/25/10) I noticed a $99.95 charge to my account which had processed from my account today as well (it was noticed the same day that it was debited). I immediately called the number listed on my statement and was told that I was approved for a $10, 000 line of credit for Platinum Services online shopping site. I was told that I was sent an email stating that I had 7 days to cancel otherwise I would be charged the $99.95 fee. I never received this email. Of course, I was told it was a non-refundable fee even after I explained I never authorized such a thing. The woman told me to file a dispute at my bank and to file a police report if I felt that I needed to. I immediately went to my bank and filed a dispute. My bank said that Visa would investigate it and determine whether it was fraudulent or not. I never used my Visa debit card online so I don't have any idea how this could even happen. The bank also told me that it could take up to a month for the funds to be refunded which I'm completely fine with as long as I do get it back.
I'm intending on contacting my Attorney General's office, filing a police report, contacting the FTC, and BBB as well.
Has anyone ever been refunded for this? If not, what was the reason? Any information would be very helpful!
