black mold
My apartment located at 2031 south st, philadelphia, pa, became infested with mold last summer. I informed management by calling them constantly, I also e-mailed them and still have the e-mails about my problem in the apartment. The issue was not dealt with, the problem became worse, mushrooms started growing out of the wall, black toxic mold started covering the walls, and I was coughing for unknown reasons and always had a runny nose. I became so fed up with their lack of concern, that I told them either they let me out of the lease and give back my security (the lease was not to end until April 2010) or I would file legal action and leave no matter what. They agreed to my terms but as I was moving out, I found out my couch that I recently bought in May for 1200, was completely infested in the back with mold. The fabric was ate away by the mold it was so bad. They paid me for an area rug the sum of 117.00 but refused to pay for the couch with no other reason than I should get my renter's insurance to pay for it. I didn't have renter's insurance and when I did, I still would have had a $500.00 deductible. The destruction of my new couch was caused completely by their negligence. I made them fully aware of the severe mold problem and told them over and over it was getting worse and they did nothing. I have attached several pictures of the damage, the one's that most accurately depict the damage are stated to be 'too large' though. I can be reached at phone number 215.528.1697, thank you for your time. April Fisher
