PNC Bank Reviews

Stay away
Pnc bank charges overdrafts on (pending transactions) its a scam. Thet should only be allowed to charge a overdraft to posted transactions. They also hold the pending transaction longer so you will overdraft more think you have the money in your acct. They also make sure they take the biggest transaction first so you overdraft all of the smaller ones, it is out of sequence. So if you spent for example $20 on 7 debits cigs, pop, asprin ETC and then you see you don't have the money to cover the expence and put the money in the bank before they(post) to yur acct. they will charge your acct $255 on twenty dollars worth of pending transaction not posted transaction, , , , what a bunch of crooks

Health Savings Account (HSA)
I had a health savings account (HSA) at National City, when in the fall of 2009, as a result of the "merger" prompted by political favors to Pittsburgh (and a political slap to Cleveland) instead of bailing out National City, PNC was given billions and took over Nat City. The result was the loss of 100s of Cleveland jobs and thousands of pissed off Nat City customers. With my Nat City HSA, there was online customer service 24/7 and online bill pay, both of which are considered minimum banking services for major banks in the United States.

Starting in the fall of 2009 when PNC took over, their HSA (which, ironically is accessed by the absolutely incorrect website of "smart-hsa.com") has no online customer service (customer service may be reached only 9-5 Monday to Friday by calling an 800 # (after an average 30 minutes on hold). The account still has no online bill pay. Electronic transfers of money from my main account take 3-4 days. The account and the bank are a joke. Pony Express would be faster. Yet 18 months later in the spring of 2011, it appears that nothing has or will change with their services.

Fraud department
My husband and I had used a PNC credit card for our business. His business partner proceeded to steal nearly 7k on the credit card after we had started the process of going out of business. In an attempt to apprehend her and comply with the police we proceeded to file disputes against the card and cancel it. After we asked to obtain the infromation of what was charged to the account. We asked first on 12/29/2010, again on: 01/01/2011, 01/10/2011, 02/14/2011, 03/10/2011 for the statements. Each time they gave us the run around refusing to tell us what we were paying for since you can't milk blood out of a turnip! They have not sent us one statement with the charges only bill requesting " minimum payments" and asking for immediate payback though we've called to dispute charges. At one point they tried to CHARGE US $45 to get the statements. We refused!! PNC is a dirty business and I urge no one to go to take loans, credit cards, or even have a banking account with PNC! We are business owners trying to find justice for someone stealing money and we can't even prosecute until we get the statements to show evidence of our claims!

Denial of loan for no good reason
Went for HELOC loan. Am a doctor, hi FICO score, own home, no credit card debt, and am over 55 yrs old. They asked for a ridiculous amount of info beyond what is normal. Since they couldnt find any obvious reason for denial, they started to look at my practice. I am not self employed but own the building the practice in in. Building is being leased (over 20 years) and has equity. No overdue rent or taxes. In their great wisdom the loan officers at PNC decided that I could not afford to pay the mortgage on the building and the home equity loan from my salary - dahhhh, , , , that is why it is rented!!! Maybe if I made the money that a PNC executive makes it wouldnt be a problem!! It never occurred to these third grade bank idiots that all you need to do is sell the building or get another lessee!!! I feel as though they discriminated against me due to my age although I cannot prove it.

Botched Loan denies me title, But PNC threatens to hold me to loan
Stay away from this bank. They can really ruin your life!

I had purchased/financed a used vehicle and they botched up the paperwork so badly that the manufacturer will not release the title, but they established the loan and still hold me responsible. I cannot drive or license my $33k car due to PNC's horrendous handling of the title work. And they are still holding me to the loan. It's been two months and no sight of a resolution. The manufacturer got their pay-off and they consider the car still owned by the prior owner, who is unreachable.

They are destroying my (once high) credit, costing thousands. I'm so sick from this I cannot stand it. Attorney fees will be through the roof. This started with the PNC Branch on Henderson in Columbus, OH.. and has progressed to their upper tier loan centers with no resolution (all of PNC has been useless in trying to resolve this). Henderson Road, Columbus is horribly managed (well all of it is). And this after being an excellent customer with a prior vehicle.

PNC is heartless and will not resolve this. They simply say, "sorry". So, please find another institution to finance through and save yourself the pain. These people are thieves! I'm still trying find resolution as of March 2011.

PNC mortgage lied
Soon after I applied for a refinance mortgage at PNC bank, the national office informed me that I am in a flood zone and must have flood insurance. I then provided proof from our local government department that our house is not in a flood zone.
Soon after that "RRamirez" of PNC sent a PNC memo to Edith Wrona saying that because I provided such proof, it was OK to not require flood insurance. Edith Wrona then forwarded that memo to my local PNC mortgage agent who then forwarded it to me.
But I continued to receive generic "You must have flood insurance" form letters from PNC.
So in late January I called the PNC mortgage customer service line, and the woman there confirmed that her computer said "Flood insurance *not* required" and she said that I should just ignore the automatically generated form letters demanding flood insurance.
I then had a $500 elevation survey done by a licensed surveyor to confirm that my house is 1.3 feet above the flood level.
For 5 weeks after January 25th, I emailed Edith Wrona asking for a PNC letter confirming the PNC email that flood insurance would not be required, but she never responded to any of my emails.
Our local PNC agent said that he did not know why the national office was not responding to any of my emails.
Finally, on February 24th, I called the national PNC and asked to speak to a supervisor.
PNC national mortgage supervisor Brandi Coyner returned my call and said "Since January 25th, we have repeatedly informed you that the January 25th email was a mistake, we have repeatedly told you that that decision has been reversed, we have repeatedly apologized to you for that mistake, and you are in a flood zone no matter what the Louisville government officials and the surveyor say."
I then told her that nobody had ever informed me of any such thing, since Edith Wrona had never contacted me after January 25th, and our local PNC agent had repeatedly said that he didn't know why the PNC national office was being silent for 5 weeks. And I informed her that I am a retired church pastor who will swear on the Bible that I am telling the truth about the matter.
PNC supervisor Brandi Coyne then *angrily* *yelled* into the telephone that she had the "proof" right there in front of her that I had been repeatedly informed that the January 25th email was a "mistake" that had been reversed.
I finally got so tired of her angrily yelling lies at me that I had to hang up on her.
I have now applied for a refinance mortgage at Republic Bank for half the closing costs demanded by PNC.

Company stops checks without permission
PNC has put stop payments on my checks 5 times without my permission.

I have had my checks to my gas company and drs office stopped payment 4 times. I called gas company, they said they have stopped payment notice. I told them we didnt. They said bank said we did. Called the bank and they said they had no note of it. I tested them and paid one month online for the gas and it went through. The next month, wrote a check the day the bill came, and they stopped payment on it! Tried to get them to pay these but said I have to do a confernce call with bank and gas co to do that. I dont have that phone capapbility. Cant wait to open account at new bank.

PNC ATM Card
I have banked with PNC/NC for at least 30 years. I carry an approx. 20K balance in checking and savings. I only have an ATM card - I have never liked debit cards. This year I am being charged an annual $10 for the ATM card, but if I switch to a debit card - no annual fee will be charged. Obviously they are "coercing" me to accept the more profitable(for them)debit card when all I want to do is get some cash from the ATM. I'm very angry.

Fees
I have been going trough living hell with PNC with fees. I recently transferred money from my PNC savings to my PNC checking and it took it 5 days to get there, so I incurred 6 overdraft fees and 2 returned items as well as fees for them. They have absolutely NO INTEREST in talking to me about the fees or trying to help me. This came on the heels of charging me overdraft charges for pending items when I had made deposits the same day. They took the fees out and then credited my account, which resulted in more fees. Between the two incidents, they have robbed me of almost $500 in just over a month. I really thought they couldn't be worse than National City, but I was sooooo wrong! Where can one file complaints against such practices?
