Points Across America Reviews

Fraud
A charming boy came to my door and convinced me to buy $55 worth of magazines that were to be given as a gift. I had never recieved the magazines and my check was cashed shortly after I had purchased the magazines from the boy. I am out of $55 and out of a christmas gift.

Never recieved refund
I ordered a subscription from a girl who came to my door, decided immediately that i wanted to cancel. I mailed in the cancel slip that same day. A month later i got a note from them asking for proof the check cleared and id recieve a refund in 10 days. Well i paid 5 bucks to get the ststaement from my bank detailing the check had cleared, and now here i am 2 months later w no refund and every number i try to call for them, disconnected. If anyone has a woeking number for points across america id greatly appreciate it!!

mag subscription never recieved
I should of known better, but I too wrote a check for $70.00 for a magazine subscription. The date on my reciept is 23 Jan 2009. My check was cashed way back at the end of Jan. Here it is 02 Sep 2009 and still no magazine. I have not been able to contact anyone at the number on the reciept (903-429-3300).

No response to refund
In 2007, I ordered a magazine from door to door college kid. Check for $44.00 was the amount, when I called to tell them I never got it, they said the magzine went out of business (oh yea!) and they would give me another of my choice. That never came either. In 2008 I called the company and they said they would send me a refund, if I sent them copies of my customer receipt. I did. I never received the check. In 2009, I called and the girl checked with the bank, said the check was sent but never cashed and she would send another with a tracker number. 3 weeks later, here it is and of course I never received that check either. I filled out and submitted a complain form on the Atty Gen of Texas website and then checked the BBB's website. They were getting so many complaints that the were no longer taking care of them but turning them over to the Atty. Gen.'s office!!! Well, if they are going to rip me of (and I am on disability and could really use the money) I think I will just visit my son who, conveniently lives in Texas right in the middle of all the towns they seem to be in, and just pay them a personal face to face visit!!
I am sick and tired of having to chase these kinds of things and I think that PAA should pay me NOW! I have got 4 addresses for these people including the owners or whomever they are, and I will just stop and say HI with my 12 gauge. Then see how fast they give me my check!

Not a Scam, but Bad Idea, Difficult to Contact
I just want to say, first of all the agents for Points Across America will tell you their intentions, which are anything but innocent, however they are good at manipulating and you are likely to let them into your home and buy from them. I'm very intelligent and very good at slamming the door in people's faces, yet within 10 minutes of meeting this kid, I'd spent 66 dollars on readers digest for a year. Yeah.
Pretty immediately after he left, I filled out the cancellation card, mailed it. A couple days later, I got a letter requesting documentation from the bank that the check had been honored, with nonessential information blacked out. Understandable, and I had it sent out within minutes thanks to the miracle of online banking.
Now the problems. The address that the company uses is used as a mid-point, and it is actually sent to a completely different destination. This makes it nearly impossible to contact the company when you don't recieve your refund in the 10 days they said it would take. So you go online and look up the company, and all you can find are scam warnings, so you think you're screwed. Fortunately for me, it was my week off, so I had plenty of time to hunt them down. After about an hour sifting through complaints posted online, I found a phone number buried in one of the complaints. I called, and...it was a cell number which had been shut down. So another hour, I find another number. I call, and an answer! She even answered as "points across america." So i tell her my problem and she says she's putting me on hold, and...click, hung up. I immediately called back, thinking for sure there was never going to be an answer from this phone again considering everything I had read online. She answers, "Hey Alex, sorry about that!" Further more, she had all my information, check number, check amount, date ordered, date refund requested, and apologized it had taken so long, they had apparently just changed location and banks, something confirmed in another complaint I had read that they constantly change location to make it difficult to track down.
Now I have my refund, and although I'm disappointed in myself for falling for this stupid kid wanting to go see "jugs south of the border, " I have to say this company is real. It isn't a scam, its just poorly ran and intentionally difficult to contact. But for those who are complaining 6 months to a year later that they aren't getting their mags, READ THE FINE PRINT! It does state it'll take 6-18 months to start recieving magazines. Letting these people into your home requires a professional scam buster, but if you buy and regret, you have a short amount of time to react. SEND IN THE CANCELLATION CARD IMMEDIATELY! Be prepared to have documentation from your bank that the check was honored. Send that in immediately, and if you don't get your refund check in 10 business days, the number I ended up getting in contact with them at is 903-429-3300.

Wrong city listed for location
When you search the company by name, it shows to be located in Sherman, TX with the phone number as 903-429-3300. The map location shown in Sherman is not an actual address but is in the middle of a vacant field. The actual location of the company, one of many I assume, is in Collinsville, TX as of June 1, 2009. I spoke with a Collinsville police officer who confirmed that a magazine subscription business recently opened an office in their city. I know they are currently operating, selling subscriptions in Dallas and surrounding areas. Buyer Beware.

Fraud and scam
Wow where to start. This company uses kids to do low level Ponzi scheme where kids are sent out to ask for subscriptions to earn a trip somewhere. This in turn ends up to people waiting for months on magazine subscriptions and once the subscriber becomes wise to it there is almost nothing they can do about it. The owners will post on here saying read the fine print and they are right it is my fault for doing business for this company but the point of this report is to warn others and to stay away from this company. A quick google search after the girl left my place pulled up sites like this one and I quickly put a stop payment on the check and thinking they would cancel the order without payment, they turned it over to a collection agency. And god forbid getting them on the phone so you are pretty much stuck. It is sad to see lower class citizens that work for this company and those who have to make a living running this type of company have to leech off of us who are educated and can get decent jobs. I got hit big because I am in school at my state university studying premed having to dish out 100 bucks to these scammers. Yup with booksmarts you would have figured otherwise right. Yes, yes I know why did you do it you should have read the fine print, you are right but the cam lies in the fact that there is almost no way to get your money back and I know when replied to they will say you can call this number its quick and easey but it's not so just stay away from this company and buy your magazines directly. Best of luck to you who have already been ripped off.

not a scam
I worked for points across america for about 5 months, it was amazing and all the kids were like brothers and sisters to me. Yes we had quotas in order to go party or do what ever we wanted that night, why should the company support your ass if all your doing is staying up all night partying and not helping thier business any? i hear all these people who used to be here complaining on how we cant leave our rooms, we only get 25$ a night, Blah Blah. Well its bullshit. get your quota- ITS NOT THAT HARD! You got to that quota because you started getting consistant with doing good and you show'd you could do it. if you dont get your quota get back to the hotel check in go to our little meeting and go the fuck to bed and wake up excited for the next day. all it takes is a good attitude, a personality and determination. you have that and you'll get your QUOTA and you'll make more than 25$ a day!!! at least thier payin you every night even when you walk around all day with your finger in your ass. And about this scamming talk, kids who get desprite to get thier quota go to desprite measures. if we dont got a magazine of course if u name one off thier gonna say we have it! they were stupid kids and didnt mean any harm. Thier has been days where ive been one order short on my quota on the day and i bought one myself and sent it to my family back home...and from what i've heard some people say about PAA is that its a scam...so i wasnt sure if the magazines were gonna go to my house but i kept gettin texts from my sister like "are you sending me magazines?". i told her i was only meeting my quota and i would send her and my mom some. i am now home and i went in her room and found like 6 different magazine subscriptions and thier were 2-3 issues that already came from each. Im sorry to those who have gotten into a situation where somewhere along the lines, somthing got messed up with your order, but ive ran across so many people in the 5 months of selling magazines who have opened thier door saying they did this last year and they have so many magazines pileing up from all the ones they bought last year from the kid they supported they dont want any more. I've had people say they do it every year but they dont have the right income this year, ive had two military roomates i ran across that one of the girls purchased 2 subscriptions from me and the other one didnt get paid yet so she BORROWED 110 dollars from her roomate to buy magazines from me. People all around the world want to help us kids in our contest becuase it IS A CONTEST!!! dont let that fool you. thiers points on EVERY magazine. and for those people who have had problems in the past-IM SORRY, i dont understand it sometimes on how it could have happend but thier are some kids out thier who get desprite and pocket your money, or alter your orders acting like we have somthing we dont just to make a sale. but let me ASSURE you, those are the kids who are in the business for the WRONG reasons and they do get fired.I was in one of the meetings where thier were a few problems with how some of the kids there did things and it was brought out in the open, they embarrassed the HELL of of a few kids and fired 2 of them...the kids Know NOT to fuck around not to alter orders, not to split orders or dont switch orders with another person. Some of them do it anyways to benifit them selves in some way...and they DO get caught. so its not the COMPANY who fucks you over ...its because sometimes we get ROTTEN kids coming into this contest. WE deff. handle them and the company handles you guys the best they can. But you guys never know what happend in the situation so please stop acting like we're so bad like not one person we sell gets thier magazines. Shit happens but i've ran across more people who HAVE, and that do it every YEAR than that havent gotten 'em. THanX =]
