Know what you are signing!
My wife and I made the most rookie of mistakes we have ever made. Everything you have read is true about this company. We had an individual named Michael (I am not giving his last name, but if you ask I will provide) come to our home to give us an estimate on Siding. Michael was pleasant, he arrived about 6:30 PM. After (what we now know was calculated) 3 hours of presentations, measuring, more presentations, and hand written calculations he hit us with the whopper. Michael presented us with a very reasonable quote which was only available if you signed on the dotted line that night. He explained that it is because they don't want to waste sales person time coming back after you have thought about it. If you did not sign that night (at what was now 11:00 PM) the price almost doubles (in our case $23, 045 - $41, 500).
Rookie mistake 1: Michael offered to do something "no one else would think about doing" offer a partial agreement to just cap the windows, which would lock the first night price in. This seemed reasonable. We neded this done anyway and it was chump change. We figured this would give us time to think about the whole job and have other companies in. The catch is, and why I figure they offer this, is that no other company will do a partioal job and still warratny the work. They probably know this so that is why they offer to do this. We cancelled, which to their defense was fairly easy.
Rookie mistake 2: Since the window capping was only $5, 315 we were going to pay cash. Michael however was so proud of the fact that they do not take payment until after the job is done. Maybe it was because it was 11:30 at night, or mayme Michael was just an awesome sales person (I would go with the 11:30 excuse) we signed a credit application that was "standard policy". Well they ran our credit for the whole job. This was a hard inquiry which will affect our credit score. Since this was a cash deal, and I would have been more than willing to pay upfront I am not quite sure why they ran our credit. I am still waiting for my call from the VP of Finance to work this out. I have a feeling I will be waiting for a long time.
I was in sales for over 15 years, I am now in Marketing for a major corporation. I have my MBA. The reason I say this is that with all of my business knowledge and common sense, i was duped. I would never let this company in my home. There are tons of big competitors out there, and the economy stinks. Do yourself a favor skip Power Windows ans Siding.

Soliciting/ Illegal installation
Power Windows and Siding was seen soliticing on our propoerty, a self maintained condo complex. Power Windows was called on several occasions from me, the Maintenance Supervisor and from the President. On one occation I spoke with Kelly at Power Windows and explained that soliticing is not allowed and if they want the Board of Directors to review their product, they would have to submit a Ct. Licence, Insurance Certificate and a sample of their product, Kelly agreed. Our requests to Power Windows were disrespectfully ignored. Replacement windows and patio doors were installed in a unit behind our back. The unit owner was told that Power Windows had the Boards approval, a lie. Power Windows did not have authorization to do the installation. The unit owner was lied to. Bi-laws specificly state that approved windows and doors must meet set standards of Glen Oaks Condominiums, which are new construction windows and patio sliders with built in J-channel. Reason being that it is the best installion for weather efficiency and water leakage. Siding must be removed and the installation tab wrapped with water and ice shield. We are outraged with Power Windows sneaky installation and blatant disrespect to our communities laws. The windows will be removed and new construction windows will be installed to preserve the integity our building. Legal action will be taken if compensation is not made to us at Glen Oaks Condominiums. I've made several calls to Power Windows to discuss this issue, but have not been called back. My number is 860 665-9089. Call me ASAP Power Windows. Thank You, Peter (Maintenance Supervisor)

HIGH PRESSURE SALES WILL NOT LEAVE YOUR HOME!!!!!!
I WAS TALKING TO A FRIEND THAT JUST GOT A JOB WITH POWER WINDOWS AND SIDING. I ASKED HOW THERE WINDOWS ARE BECAUSE I NEED TO REPLACE MINE SOON. HE SAID HE IS IN TRAINING AND HE COULD HAVE A REP COME OUT TO GIVE ME AN ESTIMAE THAT IS MORE KNOWLEDGABLY ABOUT THERE PRODUSCTS SO THEY CALLED AND WE SET IT UP. WE DID RESCHEDULE TWICE DUE TO WORK BUT THEY CAME OVER AT 6:30 PM ON THE RESCHEDULED DATE ON TIME. WELL THIS IS WHERE IT WAS A DOWN HILL SPIRAL AND I MEAN STRAIGHT DOWN. THE GUY STARTED TALKING AT 7PM AND I COULDNT GET HIM OUT OF MY HOUSE UNTIL 11:30PM AND WAS JUST ABOUT TO DECK HIM. THIS IS A SCAM AND HIGH PRESSURE SALES PITCH THEY TALK ON AND ON AND ON ABOUT THERE WINDOWS GO THROGH A 3 INCH BOOK WITH LAMENATED PAGES LIKE THERE READING OFF AN TELEPROMPTER. THIS GUY DIDNT GIVE ME AN ESTIMATE UNTIL 10:30PM MY WIFE AND I WERE LISTENING TO HIM THEN SHE PUT THE KIDS TO BED SO WE WENT AROUND MEASURING WINDOWS. AFTER HE SHOWED US ALL HIM DEMO WINDOWS AND GOING TO THE CAR THREE TIMES HE STARTED WRITING THE ESTIMATE ABOUT 10PM HE STARTED AT 34K FOR 18 WINDOWS AND 1 BAY WINDOW HE SHOWED US RECIPTS FROM OTHER COMPANIES INCLUDING HOME DEPOT AND SEARS SAYING THERE JUST AS EXPENSIVE AFTER AWHILE I JUST HEARD BLAW BLAW BLAW. I JUST WANTED THE ESTIMATE. HE SAID IF WE DO IT TODAY THERE IS A PROMOTIONAL FIRST VISIT DISCOUNT SO IT WOULD ONLY COST US 23K. SO HE SAID HE HAS SOME CALLS TO MAKE AND HE IS GOING TO HIS CAR HE SAID FLASH THE OUTSIDE LIGHT WHEN WE MAKE OUR MIND UP. WELL WE MADE OUR MIND UP PRETTY QUICK BECAUSE I KNOW PEOPLE THAT HAD WINDOWS DONE AND THEY WERE ALOT CHEAPER THAN THAT PLUS I WANTED TO GET A FEW ESTIMATES AND RESEARCH THEM. WHEN HE CAME BACK IN WE TOLD HIM WE ARE GOING TO WAIT AND WILL CALL HIM HE SAID IF WE DONT DO IT TONIGHT IT WILL BE THE 1 YEAR DISCOUNT PRICE OF 34K. I SAID IF I CALL YOU NEXT WEEK YOU WONT DO IT FOR 23K HE SAID NO! ITS NOT HOW THERE COMPANY WORKS. SO I TOLD HIM AGAIN WE ARE NOT SIGNING TONIGHT BECAUSE WE MAY NEED TO REPLACE OUR CAR SOON.HE SAID DO YOU REALLY NEED A CAR NOW HE SAID YOUR A MECHANIC WHY CANT YOU FIX IT I SAID ITS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS WHEN AND WHY I NEED TO REPLACE MY CAR. THEN I SAID IF YOU BOUGHT A CAR YOU WOULDNT BUY THE FIRST ONE YOU SAW HE SAID THIS IS DIFFERENT THAN A CAR AND I SAID YEAH THIS IS MY HOME ITS MORE IMPORTANT THAN A CAR.HE ALL OF A SUDDEN SAID IVE DONE REALLY GOOD WITH THE COMPANY AND I WILL DO IT FOR 18K AND TAKE OFF HIS BONUS. I KNEW WHERE THIS WAS GOING REAL FAST SO FOR THE THIRD TIME I SAID NO! THEN HE STARTED YELLING SAYING I WASTED HIS WHOLE FRIDAY NIGHT AND I SHOULD BUY THE WINDOWS BECAUSE I NEED THEM. I THEN YELLED AT HIM AND SAID NOW YOUR REALLY STARTING TO F^@CKEN PISS ME OFF NOW AND YOU DIDNT GIVE ME THE ESTIMATE UNTIL 1030PM AND SAID MAYBE YOU SHOULD LEARN TO GIVE YOUR PRESENTATION A LITTLE QUICKER. I SAID MY KIDS ARE SLEEPING AND IF YOU DONT LEAVE RIGHT NOW YOUR GOING TO BE SORRY. AFTER THAT HE MUST HAVE REALIZED HE WAS GOING TO GET HIS ASS KICKED. I AM PRETTY WELL TEMPURED BUT I HAD TO WORK AT 6 AM AND I WAS TIRED AND DIDNT WANT TO DEAL WITH THIS BS AT 1130PM. WHAT A NIGHTMARE ANOTHER 2 OR 3 MINUTES I WAS CALLING THE COPS OR GETTING THE GLOCK!!!

Lied about how work would be done
Salesman assured me that the entire window frame would be removed. It was not. Smaller windows were installed inside the original frames making the frames wider and the windows smaller. They look like crap and have devalued my custom build stone rancher. This is trailer park technology and we will probably end up in court. I am so upset I can't sleep.

Good company
I have worked in the marketing department out of power windows and sidings cranford nj office for almost two years (the guys who knocks on your door or approaches you in BJs.) Power windows is not a bad company, in fact, they are a very good company that's treats it's employees very well. They are, however, a first-call-close sales organization, just so happens they sell windows.
All of their products are top of the line as far as quality, warrenty an especially energy efficiantcy. Sure it's gonna be a well dressed salesman at your home and not bob villa, but what company could possibly survive giving free window and siding estimates in this economy? Gimmie a break people.
I graduated in 2008 with a bachelor's from a major university, and because of the economy I couldn't find a job...doing anything! Having worked various jobs since I was 15 I was prepaired to take any job I could find. Growing up in northern nj you develop a stereo type for door to door sales. However, not only does this company offer a fair pay structure, and they actually pay you, they offer full health and dental benefits and a 401k...to knock on doors. The run several promotions through the year and have an amazing Christmas party that p diddy would be proud of. They also do a great deal of charity work and have been featured of extreme home make over and recently on NBC Philly when they completely re did and elderly women's home after she was diagnosed with a life threatening ailment.
So to all you people out there spending all their time and effort trying to bad mouth this company, GET OVER YOURSELF! The fact is that the economy is shit and will continue to be shit for the forseable future. So the next time someone knocks on your door or stops you in BJs, don't brush him off like he's some scam artist. The truth is tht he's probably a college graduate, or a father, someone with bills to pay just like you, and goals in life. We all need to take a step back and scrap the door to door stigmata because frankly it's the people like us who hustle for a living tht made this country great once, not you miserable greedy pricks who backrupted the country so you could be a little richier in your sad little world. Everyone should have to do door to door sales at some point in their life, it teaches you a whole new perspective on people, and just how cold thy can really be.

Push sales tactics
I'm glad I'm not the only person who feels embarrassed about letting this company enter my home. I wish I had the time to have looked this up information before the sales pitch. I stated that I wasn't signing on to work that night about an hour into the presentation. I could tell from the escalation in the sales person's voice this didn't go over well. I don't respond to the "hard sell". If you can only give me a price that's good for that night, I'm not doing business with your company. Does that seem so unreasonable? It seemed to be to this sales guy. My only regret is that I was polite and followed social norms to not cut the person off to tell him to leave me home. After he left without giving me a written quote, and taking up 2 hours of my Friday evening, I really wish I had the nerve to tell him to get the “F” out after the first hour. It's too bad they didn't just give the window information in about a reasonable amount of time like a half hour and leave a written quote good for 30 days. I probably would have bought some windows from them. Now I'll look for someone that doesn't make me feel like I’m a captive in my own my home. By the way, it's nice to see that the company also reads these posts and adds their own counter responses. Maybe if they just didn't employ these sales tactics there wouldn't be these complaints.

NO MEANS NO
I agreed to a "free consultation" for new windows at my home. 4 hours later, the sales person was still in my home. I told him no a number of times and finally agreed to the windows after I learned I had 3 days to cancel my order. You can't order the windows without signing up for a high interest credit card. The application for the credit card was processed before my 3-day cancel option was over and I now have a new credit card that has negatively impacted my credit score. No means No. I don't care if this is the best window in the world; the company's selling tactics are OBNOXIOUS and Wrong.

I Love Power Windows And Siding
I have been working for the company for over a yr now and I love it!!!
The funny thing about comments is that you can never really know what the true intention of the writer is. I see so much hate e-mails about my company. Unfortunately people are very lazy in writing letters that highlight how happy they are with there jobs. I have been doing this job for over a yr now and I am proud to say I work for the company. I can't tell you how many houses where we ended up doing a part of the job and I am called back to do the rest. I have seen first hand the impeccable quality of the work our installers do.
By the way we offer what is called the Power Wall system- it is only sold as a complete system with the contoured insulated backing, so that post where we installed siding without it, is obviously a plant from an independent contractor trying not to go out of business because he can't compete. I am sorry but the best push the rest out of the field and that's the way it is. The simple fact is that we would not be the forth largest contractor in New Jersey if were weren't delivering what we promise to our consumers. Simple fact.
I have a funny story, I went to a house a few weeks ago to give a quote for siding. The gentleman was an installer for a company that will remain unnamed, but he did windows and everything else for them. I was shocked to find this out since his very house was literally falling down around he and his wife. The first thing I ought was wow, what kind of work does this guy do? He is a good representation for what this industry is, the reason why we do so well is because of the high standards we require as a company. Good Luck and realize that you can't please all the people all of the time, but we get pretty close :)

Don't spend the money!!!!
I agree with the complaint from NY! Very long sales pitch. I bought it though and had the first half of my home's windows installed. The installer was wonderful, very clean andd thorough. Two weeks later the other half goes in. Entirely different crew to install the big windows. Left nails in the driveway, did not clean up inside nor the windows themselves. The screens were not square and the material to finish my large front window was cheap and caved in shortly after install. I called, called again, left emails, finally gave up. Miraculously, I get a phone call a little over a year after my installation to see how I like my windows. I told him my story and he made an appointment right at that time to send someone out. He said he wants me to be happy. The story I got from that representative is that a year had passed and I was out of warantee! Well I was under warantee when I was calling, hello! I was told the screens are made purposely not to fit and he told me to just spray insect repellent if I didn't want bugs in my house. Are you serious??? Told him thanks for nothing, feel completely ripped off! Don't spend the extra money on their energy efficient windows. You will never save the money they claim, unless of course, your insulation throughout your house as well as your doors are completely air tight!

HAHA windows for $100. I have worked in the home improvement industry for 10 years. Andersen/Pella windows will not cost you $1500 per window. $300 new Construction and $500 replacement (Andersen). Going install prices go for about $250 to $400 per window. Andersen/Pella replacements are 100 times better than power windows windows. Power windows= vinyl. Anderen/Pella =vinyl/wood interior. The U-factor between the windows are about the same. Stop going to these companies and getting ripped off. They are selling you a viynl window with LowE and argon with tempered glass. That will cost you about $250 to $400 depending on the company including the tempered glass.
Buy your windows at a local home improvement store and hire a reputable contractor to put it in at a fair price. The high prices you are paying are for are corporate middle-men. The best way to save money is to cut out the middleman. You know between the window maker and the installer. Power Windows doesn't make their window, they have a manufacturer make it for them. You pay them because you are too lazy to buy the window and find someone to put it in.
Power Windows salesmen will lie to you because thats the corporate culture and that makes them so successful. They prey on your weak nature, and your inability to slam the door in their face. Feel bad for the guys that have to walk all day door to door to get you on the phone. They get paid per appointment ($50) and often gets chased by cops because the company doesn't obtain legal permits til after they get caught by the cops. Yes people, in most towns its illegal to solicit door to door without paying most towns about $80 per sales rep.
BTW people I used to work there for about a week. I feel so sick in my stomach working there, that I would puke in the morning. The day I left was very liberating .
