Simply awful
Last month I stopped by Precise Auto Sounds and talked to "manager" about getting my windows tinted. On a wall in the shop are samples of 35% and 50% and he told me that is what my windows would look like and the cost was $130. I told him that my car was registered in NC and that I needed legal tint. The manager stated the laws were the same in both VA and NC and that I would get 35% on the back windows and 50% on the front. I didn't know this at the time but he was wrong in NC its 35% on all windows. So I made my appt for that Sat to get my windows tinted and to also get my car detailed. When I picked my my car I was told not to roll down the windows for 3 days or use the rear defrost for 5 days and that smalls bubbles could not be fixed. After I arrived home I realized that I was overcharged $140 instead of $130 and I was dissatified with the detailing. WEven with those 2 finding I didn't call back to complain. After 5 days of not rolling down the windows or using the rear defrost I noticed that all the windows had ripples and that the drivers side window had a bigger gap between the tint and the top of the windows then the others did. I called the shop the complain and ws told to bring it in. The next Sat I went to the shop and the manager took note of the ripples and the gap he told me at the time that I would have to pay to get them redone because I didn't have a receipt. I told him it was obviously a really bad tint job and I asked him to print me another receipt. He agreed that the tint was done badly he said that he remembered that it was not that long ago that I had got them done. He said that I was in the shops computer but he couldn't print me a duplicate receipt because he wanted to keep his job. At that time I asked to speak to the owner and was told that he was not there. I asked when would he be in, I asked for his name, a contact number to reach him and was refused all info. The situation gets worse if you can believe it. Last week I went to NC to get my inspection done and I FAILED because the tint was too dark. I called Precise and spoke the the same "manager" and was told to bring in the inspection paperwork. Mon, Jun 16 I went to Precise with the inspection paperwork and the receipt. On the receipt the clerk wrote the percentage the tint read with the meter 32% front and 27% rear. I manager did not believe what was written so he went outside and did a tint meter reading himself. His readings were not the same as the inspection nor did they pass the tint law in VA or NC and were not 50% and 35% like I was told I would receive. He stated that he would redo the front windows and not the back ones. I told that I could pass with the front like it was (ripples gap and all) because in NC it is considered compliant with no less than 32% and that the back needed to be redone and be lighten. He said that he could not do that w/o a receipt and that it wasn't his problem and that I should be happy that he was meeting me half way by not charging me to redo the front windows. He On 18 Jun Hampton PD did a tint reading 35% front and 31% rear still not what I was promised or legal in VA. Once again the front will pass in NC but the back is still too dark and the shop will not correct the problem w/o a receipt. I wanted tint fixed and for it to look nice but now I want that and to pass my inspection. So now I want the tint to be taken off at no charge because I will not pass another inspection with it on. I also want the 140 dollars that I was charged refunded. It should have been $130 by the way. Also I want the $33.75 that I had to pay for the failed inspection reinbursed to me. Im not asking for the $40 for the detailing but I think that I deserve that as well since the car was not detailed; the out side was washed but the inside was not touched. Any help that you can give me concerning this shady tint shop is very appreciated.
