2 fans and a water extractor were brought to my place in a timely manner. I was handed a contract and told this would be paid by the insurance company. Naturally, I signed.
Water came in a window causing moisture in the carpet and padding in a small area of the condo.
They pulled up a small area of carpet and placed a fan there to help dry up the water. The extractor was placed on a dry area in the middle of the room. Another fan was also placed near the wet area to help in drying it.
I called a day and a half later and advised the area was dry.
They picked up their equipment prior to the 3 day minimum and sent me a bill for $1, 000.00.
When I got the bill I called the company and told them that I thought this was paid by insurance...And that this bill is outrageously expensive...as well as the minimal time the equpment was in use. That is when they told me of the minimum charge.
I explained how the guy removing the extractor wet the floor all over again but that I would be replacing the carpet. They basically called me a liar when I told them of this problem. The tenant living in this property can verify this... I asked them to settle for a fair amount of money but they placed a lien on my property in the amount of $1030.00
Cost of water extractor (minimum)$100.00
Contents manipulation and/or labor... No movement of furn...but was charged $65.00
Emergency servcie $155.00 They could not get anyone there until after or about 5:30pm.
Air movers (I called fans) 2 for 3 days @ $35.00 per day with a total cost of $210.00
Dehumidifier 1 @ 3 days @ 125.00 per day ttl $375.00... I did not see any dehumidfier. There were 3 pieced of equipment only... Not 4...
There was a $100.00 fee at line 3 which has a charge of 0... Line 3 states Carpet - disengage, remove pad, dispose if nec ($100.00 min) They did lift a small corner of the carpet...which took approx 3 minutes...
Finally line # 23 states minimum charge line 5 $25.00 and line 5 reads carpet/floor- treat with mildcide: includes room and base trim cost of 0... There was no mildcide...and there was no mildew. That is the total of $1030.00
Needless to say they came late equipment was used for a short period of time and when they left they soaked the carpet again when disconnecting the extractor by tilting it causing the water to leak out...onto the center of the rug. I am happy I said no when they offered to pull up the carpets and toss them if I wanted.
