After going to the drugstore and finding that I had used up all my benefit for Medicare D and
went to pick up my additional 4 pills at the drugstore - to find that the cost was s$129.00,
They said the Avelox was not on the formulary. I called to ask what po (by mouth) antibiotics
were on the formulary. I had just finished Levequin which was on the formulary but md
wanted to give me a different one. This customer service agent told me I would have to get
another RX and tell her what it was and then she could tell me whether it was on the
formulary or not. I said let me understand - you do not know how to look up the formulary
where there is a list of drugs? I have pneumonia - I am not driving to the dr. numerous times
to get numerous RX to name a drug for you because you do not know how to pull up a list.
She refused to let me speak with her supv. and insisted only topical antibiotics were listed.
I said that it is true. She kept arguing with me. I said I am an RN - I have had a copy of
the formulary. The website will not allow me to pull it up or I would do it. I just took
Levequin which you covered...that is by mouth.
I was on the phone - waiting for a supv. supposedly for 20 minutes--- I FINALLY said - I am a nurse =
why don't I just name every antibiotic and play like I have a RX in my hand and you plug that
name in. I was so angry - because I had to play this stupid game - I named every antibiotic that
I know - since I have been an RN for 32 yrs. - I figure i hit most of them - she said yes on the formulary
or no not on the formulary. I was sick and I was not allowed to have a supv. take charge and handle
this for me. and she argued the whole time - saying "a supv will tell you the same thing." We only
have topicals." I finally said, "Please do not say that again - just look up these words and I will spell
the drugs for you and you type them in and say yes on the formulary or no. That took about
40 minutes in total. Yes I was angry and No she never called a supv. She pretended to be waiting
for one. I think her name was Alisa. Wonder who trained her for customer service and who trained
her on the computer to look up information for the customer. She already knew how to argue.
