I just had four bay windows installed by Prestige Installed Home Services Inc; 21-10 Newkirk Rd, Richmond Hill, ON, L4C 5S3, Telephone: (905) 737-1309
One of my main reasons for choosing this particular contractor was the fact that Prestige is a Window Wise certified contractor, and a member of S.A.W.D.A.C. and the BBB.
In spite of this, the crew’s behavior was rude and unacceptable. If this was not enough we also had to contend with bad workmanship.
Let me give you a brief overview of the installation by Prestige:
Prestige started the installation on Monday November 6, 2006 to be finished on the Tuesday.
The Prestige crew, lead by Andrew, was rude to my wife, treated her with utter disrespect and laughed at her when there were legitimate concerns about the quality of the work.
At the start we had a dispute about what was written on the contract and what the crew was willing to do. There were ongoing disagreements about the way the work was done and the quality. When they left on Tuesday there was a long list of problems with the installation including windows that did not close properly. Given the quality of the work I was not willing to pay for the work and asked to speak directly to the owner.
I showed the owner, Mr. Gino Antonucci the problems and he agreed with me that the work was not up to standard and that it did not look good at all.
Mr. Antonucci came back with the crew on Monday November 13, 2006 to personally supervise the work. They removed all the sidings and realigned the windows so that they can close properly. As they were taking down the front sidings there was already water running down behind the sidings.
Once they were done with the front windows and working on the bay windows at the back Mr Antonucci said that I must go and look at the finished work in front. I inspected the front windows and found that that were cracks in the sidings. They then had to fix that. This was now the third time they had to do that section of the work over! Once more, if I did not complain they would leave it the way it was.
Mr. Antonucci left half way during the day and the team continued to finish the work, that is after promising that he will supervise the whole job. When the crew finished the work they simply disappeared from my property without talking to me.
To my frustration I found that the work was still not done properly!
On the Wednesday, I received a call from Kelley in the Prestige office, requesting that I must pay for the installation since she is under the understanding that I am satisfied with the job and received instruction from Mr. Antonucci to contact me. The last time I spoke to anybody from Prestige was Mr Antonucci round about lunch time on Monday.
I indicated to Kelley there was still outstanding issues with the installation and that Mr. Antonucci must contact me. On Saturday November 18 Mr. Antonucci came to my house to inspect the work, and agreed that the work was still not done properly.
Mr. Antonucci came back on Thursday November 23 and Saturday November 25, 2006 to finish the work.
Mr. Antonucci then expected full payment after he put me through this night mare of an experience. After some discussion he gave me a discount of $200, “being a good Samaritan”, which is an insult given the inconvenience and hardship that this installation caused me.
Given my experience, you must think more than twice before you do business with Prestige. Unless you fight and complain you don’t get what is promised.
