KOSHER
I waited at the Deli Counter for almost 1/2 hour. When it was finally my turn I ordered 1 lb sharp chedder cheese. she started to slice it on the same slicer she just used for Ham. I asked if she could use a different slicer. She said no they were clsoing at that was the only clean slicing machine. That is disgusting. I walked away.

use of advantage card
I was shopping in Williamstown, MA, Wed, 052511, I wanted to put the items I purchased, on another advantage card. When I went to pay, the computer said the check and card did not match!! I gave the teller the card, and wanted credit to go to that card. I was not allowed to do that. I can understand the security checks for use of cards, I was not trying to missuse the card or do anything illegal, I believe this check on use of the card is bogus!!! I showed her my ID, advantage card, and was still not able to use the other card!! I spend about $1500.00 a mounth at price chopper, and have for 37 years!!! I might have to shop at Wall mart, and Hannaford now!! VERY UNHAPPY!!! James A. Higby II Saratoga, NY. 518 587 2549

pricing and specials
I was in the West Lebanon store yesterday. First of all I brought my coupon with me to purchase the coke product for $1.88 with my coupon!! When I read the ad on the product it said in big bright red letters that coke was $1.88 with coupon and that the limit was 6. So that leads me to believe that as long as I had my coupon I would be able to purchase 6 coke 12 packs and get them for $1.88, oh no, don't bother. It was good for one!!! The rest were $3.99 a piece!!! Very misleading, as a thrifty shopper I should have known better...And, the girl at the register not only didn't know how to look up the right product and tried charging me for "white sweet potatoes" instead of "long white potatoes" she was very nasty when I told her the mistake. Don't you think the people at the register should have a clue about what they have on special?? This is just another reason why I choose to shop at Market Basket!!!

Customer Service
The night staff is so loud (playing around) it startled the customer and cashiers at the checkout today. They scream so loud they seem like they're fighting. I've been in there at night often, they don't let up and they are not isolated incident's. Have fun at work, but not at peoples expense.

Deceptive marketing
I was at Price Chopper this past weekend. When you walk in the door (next to the floral department) they have that big wall of sale items. This day they had cereal, 4 boxes for $5. Great deal, right. There were 6 different kinds there to choose from so I picked out 4 boxes and continued on. My daughter decided to get some as well so she went to the wall. She, being sharper than I, read the fine print on the sale sign. Out of the 6 different kinds of cereal displayed only 4 of them were on sale. I thought this can't be true, why would they display the kind that wasn't on sale with the sale brands. So, I went to the customer service desk to verify that my daughter was being illogical. The girl behind the counter wasn't sure so she paged someone. As we were waiting for a return call the store manager walked by so she asked him. To my surprise, he said that, in fact, only 4 of the brands were on sale. I asked why he would display the others with the sale items if they weren't on sale. His exact reply was "because that's the way our marketing department told us to do it." Hmm. Really? Sounds like deceptive advertising to me? Blatant deception! This is not the first time this has happened at Price Chopper. I have noticed it many times in the past but I always gave them the benefit of the doubt. I grabbed the wrong item, they were stocked incorrectly, things like that. But, this day, I was flat out told that they purposely display the items in a way that, in my opinion, is deceitful. They are expecting shoppers to do exactly what I did, assume that an item is on sale because it is mixed in with the sale items. Most of the time I never even look at my receipt. I assume, again, that they are being honest. That was my mistake. But it's one mistake that I will not repeat. Not only will I NEVER shop at Price Chopper again, but I am also reporting this, along with the photos I took, to the Attorney General, the Better Business Bureau, Consumer Affairs, and any other organization I can find that might be able to put an end to this deceptive practice. Of course, this is only MY OPINION.

harrassement
I will never shop at the Price Chopper that just opened up in Warwick, NY on Rt 94"EVER AGAIN"!!! I stopped in after work to pick up a couple of things for the next few days, but I don't appriciate being followed around the store like I am some kind of criminal about to steal something!!! Whether it was the color of my skin or I was just being the subject of "eye candy" that triggered this male employees behavior, either way you look at the situation it was very inappropriate and unprofessional of him!!! I asked another worker who he was to find that it was a fellow by the name of Tom, who suprisingly happens to be one of the night crew managers!!! Unbelievable!!! As soon as I found that out I just put down my cart, and left the store!!! I think I will just wait next time for morning when good old Shop Rite across the street opens up from now on. At least there I know almost all their employees, and was never harrassed by any of them!!!

Harassment and Other
I have worked here now on two seperate occasions. One was late in the year, as i was working at a mass discount and retail location, the other is current.
It dumbs down to policy is good, when they want it to be. They will constantly change the minimums for their own goals, such as amount of employee's needed to do a stocking of over 1k worth of product. To the amount of boxes per hour. Recently, who you can call a "Volunteer Supervisor" decided to take into his own hands a situation. I had gained information prior to our altercation about what our "chat" was to be about. And was informed by others that he would be required (by policy) to report anything to a Manager. That was not the case, and an incident has happened.
I have witnessed on several occasions favoritism and general hazing of new employee's. As well as unconstitutional acts to get around paying for unemployment. The Tyranny held within the store leads all the way into some (and i say some strongly) Managerial and District divisions.
Personally, this company has countless times proven to show that they do not care about their employee's, only the bottom line. Their prices are gouging at best, and should be looked at carefully by local business associations.
If anyone you know, or you yourself are thinking of working for a Price Chopper i would advise against it. They will only treat you right if you work under slave like expectations, and you will never see a birthday/holiday celebration again since their corporate policy is "Requests off are requests only, if you are scheduled you have to work it or find someone who will work it for you." In other words, SOL on that 20th anniversary celebration of your marriage, you have to work.
Heed this warning, and know your employee/human rights. As this company will not give any slack to those who might need it.

Over load of work and less staff
This is to complain that Craig Wood who is running the store is a big ass hole in himself.
The way he harrasses employees especially the grocery guys is really very bad.
First is he does not keep more guys on a shift and he expects 1 or 2 guys to work on the grocery load, clean up spills, work on the frozen diary, do the buggies and garbage, work the over heads etc and much more which is really very painful for a single or maximum two guys to do especially in bad weathers.
He even threatens to cut hours or send employees back home or he cuts hours off for employees at his own wish and will. We are not at all secure and can't plan anything.
If some employee asks him about who the union representative is he just tells them to ignore saying that it is not important and finally he sacks that employee off.
We some employees at this particular store want to know our employee rights and and as far as our knowledge goes, some employees were talking among themselves that the rule says he must keep 3 grocery guys minimum in a particular shift.
We only request yourself to please initiate some early action on CraigWood before he tries to harrass more employees and sack them as we are all from different back grounds and students who come here to work but not get mentally scared and harrassed by their employer.
We some employees have also thought of sueing him for his mis deeds against employees.
Kelly his wife and also the manager for cashiers is a very biased lady and just laughs off complaints if told by employees to her .

Fraud
I believe there is not much help they can provide me.
I will elaborate:
I moved to Vermont to start a new life. I remarried, to a wonderful man and slowly applied for small positions because I was in school full time. I saw an online add for in store customer relations. I applied for a host position to represent food brands and be a host for sales and customer relations. It was in the same store my new husbands ex-wife and minor daughter worked. I applied online, 3 weeks later never heard back. I approached the manager and he told me to re-apply, which I did. According to a friend I was working a temping position at, informed me that Price Chopper, specifically can't hire immediate family members. I was astonished because my now step daughter worked there for a few years along with her mother, same shifts, same store. I was then told that My co-workers cousin was fired by Richard Ravelin, the store manager because he was related to a Eugene Bessette. I was pretty annoyed but dismissed it. The economy fell last year and now I find out that the first step daughter was moved to the pharmacy because she is attending college in the field of pharmacy, and the other step daughter (*her younger sister) was also hired in March to work in the same store. I was just at this store last week and saw that all three of them worked the same hours on that day at the same store. Let me also tell you that at the time of her new hire, they weren't even advertising. They didn't advertise to anyone. It was inside and there were no other girls interviewed for summer work. But she worked 3 days a week. I'd say that I was shocked, so I contacted Goleb corporation and spoke to an Associate Representative and asked what their corporate policy was. Apparently my friend was correct, and Stephanie at their 1-800 number informed me that it is never allowed and if so, certain allowances would have to be justified. I said oh really? like what? She didn't continue but became annoyed when I reported my findings. I felt that they sent a poor example of corporate dealings, Ethically this was a policy just on paper and not adhered to. I explained who I was, the fact remains that you teach your children independence, right and wrong, honesty and morals. If they learn young in life that rules were meant to be broken. That rules do not have to be followed, that it is not important to follow the rules. You are also teaching them to make bad choices. As a parent, I would be ashamed that my children are breaking the rules and I approve. Condoning this lack of integrity shows how completely screwed these kids will be later in life. This is a definite sign of America's flawed society. One thing to keep in mind when you raise productive and independent children. Teach them the difference between right, and sometimes right. Since when is Right and wrong grey areas of society??
