overcharged for hotel rooms
I booked a package deal (airfare and hotel) in April, for a Christmas trip. Upon check in on 12/23/09, I was told that the "no advance purchase, no promotional rate, NO PRICELINE rate" would have been $1164.14 LESS than the price that I paid through Priceline. Five attempts to resolve this price discrepancy through Priceline were ignored. Their supposed "best price guarantee" is only good for 24 hours after you book your package.
SAVE YOURSELF FRUSTRATION AND THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS BY NOT USING PRICELINE!!!

Disability Discrimination and Misrepresentation of services
Priceline "upgraded" us to Inlet Tower Hotel in Anchorage, which is supposed to be a 3 stars- in the class of Sheraton or Hilton according to their rating system. They (priceline) misrepresented the quality and amenities of this smelly, dirty, poorly renovated flop house. They advertise on their website that there is a pool, there is not (see link at bottom). Nor was there room service, secure parking, any unfrayed upholsery in the lobby or room, nor sanitary conditions present. I have pictures, lots of them! I would like someone to explain to me what the Priceline's criteria is for a 3 star hotel. I've asked them in writing, and on the phone. I've received an autorespsonse to my email, but no one has followed up. Apparently Priceline's 3 star rating does not concur with any known travel guide.
I contacted priceline immediately after they had booked us. I let the representative know about the gross misrepresentation of services and about our physical disabilities that made staying at that hotel a problem. After more than an hour they said there was nothing they- or I- could do about it. The representative was smug, and he was laughing at us. In my experience thus far- no one at priceline really cares whether the room is any good, if the rating really fits, if your disabilities are accomodated, or if their customers are happy.
Pictures don't lie.
There was ice built up inside the windows and drafts strong enough to blow out a candle(we froze our butts off), mildew and missing tiles in the bathroom, frayed wires, whit-ish mystery stains of probable biologic origin dribbled and smeared on every flat surface (it looked like someone dribbled donut glaze and smeared it around), frayed wires, stains, dirt, cigarette burns, mildew, pungent smells, and poor renovation with missing molding and tile throughout. The only open electrical outlet was up high on a wall with no table, or in the bathroom.
Construction next door began around 7:30 AM. I had a magnificent view of the construction porto-potties, though the Priceline Inlet Suites Hotel ad said that all rooms had a beautiful view. We sat on towels and were afraid to take our socks off. The tub was beyond disgusting, with a soap scum ring and mildew aroud the handles, but we couldn't have used the oversized tub anyway because of our physical disabilities (the sides came up to my butt). We are physically unable to perform the type of gymnastics necessary to use that sort of tub without injury, as there was no step or seat in the tub. Both my wife and I are on antibiotics now because the frosty conditions in the room made us ill.
The front desk clerk was friendly and sympathetic to our issues, but was unable to switch us rooms. He (Scott) stated that they are chronically understaffed by management unless the owner was coming in. He said that there were only 3 desk clerks rotating 24/7, and that he wished it were different and he could do something for us. He encouraged me to fill out a complaint card, which no one has yet responded to.
If Priceline or the hotel management cared whatsoever for the comfort of guests, they would take heed-as would priceline- to priceline's own review page on this Hotel located here:
http://travela.priceline.com/hotel/hotelReviewsGuide.do?key=g3qag2ph&propID=4862805&jsk=1f03010a2203010a200912272043459E3c11296033&plf=PCLH&static=Y
Many people who stayed there in December were as unhappy as I was, and posted similar complaints. priceline is obviously aware that this hotel is not up to standards, and does not care. What they don't realize is that their reputation is suffering because o their lack of humanity. In the end, they'll go under, because being the customer, we always have the choice to use someone else. I hope they take this opportunity to correct these deficits in their rating system.

Orgin Airport more than 2 hours away
Furious and loss of a future customer
I purchased airline tickets via Priceline. I selected the orgination city as being open to the nearby airports. Nearby airports in the Washington DC metro include BWI, DCA and IAD. A nearby airport is not Philly airport. Philly airport is over two hours away. To my surprise my purchase, Priceline has me leaving from Philly. Now I have to leave my house at 1 am in order to get to the Philly airport for the 2 hours prior required in order to meet my flight and this includes the traffic and tolls and getting my 3 kids up at that time. It should have been clear what the radius is for an nearby airport. A nearby airport should include airports in a 50 mile radius. Due to this error, I might have to leave extremely early as stated above or leave the previous day and stay overnight.
I would like Priceline to modify my airline tickets so that I leave from an actual nearby airport which includes BWI, DCA and IAD.
Sincerely,
Sha-Meen Alston

Horrible customer service!!
Buyer Beware when using Priceline!!!
I booked a hotel two weeks ago with Pricline. We drove 8 hours to our destination which was our daughter college.
We arrived at the hotel around 10 at night very tired. The hotelwas sold out and the desk clerk informed us that only room left was a smoking room. I was not real happy but took the keys and went up to the room.
The room reeked of old, stale smoke, and on top of that the bathroom tub was moldy. My wife says "There is no way in hell we are staying in this disgusting room"
I go back to the desk to cancel my reservation but the clerk says "You have to deal with Priceline. Tried calling Priceline at 10 in the evening to no avail.
We never check in to the hotel and have to leave and drive around town for an hour to find another place to stay. The next morning I call Pricleine to discuss the condition of the hotel they booked me in and they basically said "Sorry...but you are not getting any kind of refund"
So I had to pay for the two nights booked through PL at a hotel that we never checked into and was totally unacceptable, then pay for another two nights at The CourtYard.
Since I arrived home I have tried 3 times to get PL to discuss and resolve this problem but they will not even talk to me about it. The hotel clerk said they have had nothing but problems with Priceline in the past and that she wished that PL did not book their hotel.
I travel alot, and am not hard to please. A clean room would due just fine. I would NEVER book ANYTHING through Priceline again. If you have any kid of issue at all you are basically screwed!!!

creditcard
I booked a flight on priceline and before i could finish they offer me a visa with 50.00 off my ticket i was purchasing. i applied to get the discount and to have the ticket put on that card. I was approved but my ticket was 290.04 and i was approved for 250.00. They ask for another credit card. I paid with my other visa thinking that 250.00 went on the priceline visa. I had to search for a credit card statement to see what had transpired. To my suprise the entire amount was put on my credit card and i didn't receive the 50.00 off my ticket i was purchasing. I was told that it was declinded because the ticket cost more than i was approved for. In actuallity if i had recieved the 50.00 discount i was promised the for appling, the ticket would have only cost 240.00 and i would have had enough to paid for it with their card. I cancelled the card right then. I was told i would get the 50.00 credit on my first purchase with the card. Needless to say that had nothing to do with what i was promised or what i expected. Just another ripoff.

Inflexibility
Booked car rental on Priceline on my CreditCard and in my name for use by my wife. Budget was assigned the rental. Wife went to pick up the car. Budget would not give her the car. Called Priceline. They did not change the name on the contract to my wife's. Called Budget. They could not change the name on a Priceline contract.
After many calls to Priceline and Budget, Budget issued a new agreement. I paid for two cars. One was never even picked up or used. Priceline and Budget will have the money for providing no service. I will be out the cost and lots of time lost for my family while waiting to get a resolution.

Deceptive Advertising
I made a hotel reservation at 10:30 a.m. PST. On the web page it clearly stated that there was no cancellation fees or charges. I called at 2:30 p.m. PST to just change the hotel and was told that I had to do it the day before or I was going to be charged for the rate. I don't knwo how you cancel a reservation teh day before you made it. After talking to two "customer service " repressentatives, I received no satisfaction whatsoever. They never disputed the web site at all. The last representative told me to write their customer service department which I did. I received an auto reply saying that I was being charged. All this when all I wanted to do was change hotels. Now I would never recommend or use this company again. This is deceptive advertsising at it's best.

Added Travel insurance that I did not request
Priceline added travel insurance even though I made use that the travel insurance box was left unchecked. I called customer service when I noticed the $45.00 surcharge. This made the hotel cost more than it would from other sites! The rep was rude and said it was my problem that I booked online. I will NEVER use this service again and will tell everyone to stay away from Priceline.

great fun scam
I am so pissed off about what happened to me. Months ago i had made a purchase through priceline- never had issues before.. well a month later i notice that my checking account is overdrawn. I look at what happened and there is some greatfun charge...wtf is this? I called the 800 number and they said that i signed up for this when i made a priceline purchase. NO I DID NOT. I would never sign up for anything. They kept telling me how great it was to be signed up for these great discounts i will receive. Such crap. I told them to put my money back and cancel me. The guy said he would send me a check for my refund...alright do it. A week later i get some check from them. On the back where I'm to sign in small print it said something like...when you cash this check it means you are accepting the terms of greatfun. I Dont think so! They just took more money out of my account yesterday and they told me too bad. You dont get your money back. Please do not purchase through priceline.

Horrible Service
Priceline.com has the worst service!!! We bid a hotel room through Priceline.com.08/09 When we arrived the hotel exhausting from the long drive, we heard the terrible news. The front desk told us that our room was not booked. The hotel was already fully booked for three weeks. Priceline.com simply made a mistake. No way they could let us have a room that night. We called the Priceline customer service holding on the line for 30 minutes (was 1:30 am) and the only thing we got from them was there's nothing they can do, the only thing they can do is refund the money. Otherwise, we had to wait for another 30 valuable minutes for them to search another..but they could not guarantee. Horrible service!! Story did not end here...after we returned from the trip, found out that we did not get the refund from Priceline.com. Called them again, XXX Priceline said we canceled our reservation for the reason why we did not get our money back. HORRIBLE!!! Okay, so later someone from Price.com finally called us for apology but they are not sincere AT ALL!!
This is what they wrote:
" If your reservation included travel insurance, then this refund does not include the travel insurance premium.
Your refund will be posted by your credit card company within the next 10 business days.
We would like to remind you that this cancellation has been granted based on the extenuating circumstances related to your reservation. Under normal circumstances, reservations cannot be changed or cancelled."
YES I understand reservation cannot be changed or cancelled, but you didn't give us a room !!! you didn't do any service for us. In the other words, you stole our time and money!!! idiot Priceline
