Prison Health Services is going through staff like crazy in Michigan since coming in in APril 2009. They just fired a great Practitioner due to a POOR Health UNIT MANAGER and a group of nurses who are practicing beyond thier scope of Practice in Michigan.

I was told: I fraternize with inmates: I had an imate with post traumatice stress crying in my office who needed calming down and then a psych referral made. I suspected an inmate of doing inappropriate behavior but he could have been scrtching himsels so I would not report a SUSPECTED incident.

Poor work habits: I worked over 50 hours per week in August while my DR. was in Pakistan. My visiting Doctor DC'd Pegasys for a Hepatitis C patient when he should not have and I had to call the provider (specialist). He left me alone with two patients in chest pain - the doctor did.

Hostile work environment: 2 Nurses :linda and Kathy directely refused to take an order from me. A certied, licensed, DEA qualified practitioner gave a valid order and both these nurses directely refused the orders. PHS supervisors were notified. and NOTHING happened to the nurses. Where is the department of Community Helath. Terri Rodgers says she does not answer to them, nor did Joyce Hunter the Nursing Supervisor becasue they are the Department of Corrections.

Nurse Julie LPN violated patient confidentiality on more than one occasion. She is a contractural nurse. She reported a patient in post traumatic stress with his HIGHLY Confidential condition to other nurses when the Primary Provider made a psychiatric referral. Nurse Julie stole my bible study papers and handed them out to inmates saying it would help them. There are so many violations of he PUBLIC HEALTH CODE at Jackson prisons that the Deparment of Community health needs to plant spies.

I was told that JACKSON COOPER STREET would fire all Medical Service PROVIDERS becasue they are a hostile work place by two employees, one Cathy the other Cindy (we will protect their names for their safety).

Since April 2009, PHS has declined ALL requests to specialists. Inmates are declined medications they need. They are not told they have Hepatitis C and offered treatment because it is to expensive.

Stay away from Prison Health Services and Correctional Medical Services. These companies work in prisons who EAT staff for various poor managerial reasons (loss of contracts). They do not have the ANA Magnet Status. Look at Michigan for all the openings? They have lost so much staff.

DO report a bad manager by name, what they did, and what company they work for. We must avoid bad companies or we are termed "having problems".
