Don't let them take away your money
I ordered some background checks from Intellus and somehow, was billed 29.00 per month from Privacy Matters Identity on not one, but two of my credit cards. I had never heard of this company and never requested or authorized any services from them. And try reaching them by phone. Nearly impossible. I finally did reach them by phone, they blamed Intellus, and only credited one of my accounts. I now have to contact them again about crediting the other account.
Warn your friends and family. I am. Urge them to review their monthly credit card statements carefully. Do not let companies like these take your peace of mind. Fight back.

Beware
I went to there site to view a credit score for 1.00 after putting in card info the site directed me to some confusing and inconvenient directions so I skipped it and never got anything, then a month later was charged 29.00 to my account. I googled them only to find out about this site and all the other complaints. I intend to try and get my money back. It sounds like from others that they will continue to charge so I have to do something. I am becoming painfully aware of rip-offs with doing business on the internet.

Unauthorized charges
they twice made unauthorized charges to my bank account and after calling them told me that I had agreed to something when I used Intelius to search for a name and address for work. I had to speak to a manager who told me she would only refund me for one of the charges. She told me I had agreed to something... some special offer, I told her that if i did it was not to my knowledge and that I wanted all charges taken away. If this is a company who strives for protection of your identity I think they should rethink their mission statement because I felt today that they had stolen some of my identity. We'll see if the charges are refunded within 3-5 business days. Sure!
Once again I hope somehow someone can stop them from doing this to others because they are. Just search their phone number...888-840-6301... and see all the other people that they have taken money from that was unauthorized. Thank you!

rip off of $29.95 & 3 $1.00 charges
I signed up for FREE 30 days for my credit report. I agreed if I canceled within 30 days I would not be charged. Instead I was charged $29.95 & 3 $1.00 charges. I canceled within 1 or 2 weeks through the email that they sent. This did not stop the charge. I then called them on the phone. I canceled 3 times using the IVR, and this did not cancel my agreement. The operator told me that this was a 7 day free trial. I told him NO it said 30 days. He also said my subscription was not canceled but that he would cancel it for me. He said that he would credit me the $29.95. I guess a $3.00 loss is not that bad. I just hope I get my $29.95 back.

Scam
They took unauthorized withdrawals from my checking account, which US Bank is getting back for me. Check your statements carefully they count on your not noticing because it is a small amount each month. I Have no idea how they obtained my information, but they just started the withdrawals last January and they used my old name and address from about 2 years ago. I guess they just sat on my info for 2 years. The bank gave me their phone number. When I called they said they could not find my file to delete the account, although they had my old name and address. Do not even mess with them, let your bank take care of it.

Ripped off
Ok, my husband wanted to get his credit report...yeah he got "consumer" numbers...which were much higher than what the banks use and then he cancelled his subscription but apprently there are two different companies and the neglect to tell you this when you cancel. I called and the girl who cancelled the subscription was rude. She did refund me the $29.95 and the $1.00. I found myfico.com has better terms you can pay for the credit report itself not a monthly charge. They are owned by the Fair Issac company, their numbers were closer to the numbers the banks had and we only pay if we want to know what his credit score is at that point.

Beware
I had my credit run from a reputable (supposedly) non-profit credit counselling service endorsed by my employer. Shortly after I had 2 charges for 19.95 on my account about a month apart. If this happens to you, report it. I will be filing a police report, Better business report, and will attempt to alert the FBI. I filed a claim with my bank, and I need get that resolved first. Do not bother calling the 800 number, they try and scam more personal info... The more people that report this the better, notify law enforcement. I will even take time off to testify in court if needed. There is a principal at stake here.

Online scam!
After signing up to use this service for the first time, I got to a screen that said it had to 'verify' my identity. It had 3 choices of questions, which involved my old loan accounts, credit accounts, and street addresses. A little too much to just 'verify' my identity. When I left the website and tried to go back to it, there was no member login anywhere. After putting my info in again, I thought I would be redirected, but no. Even with the same exact information going through their system, they started another account with my name on it. So I have emailed their customer service and am now waiting for a worthwhile response, which I'm really not expecting to receive.

Scam charges!
I had 3 separate charges for $29.99 each taken from my debit march 11, 12, &15. The only information I was given was that it was charged by privacy matters. I don't know what the charges are for or what this company is about.
