In 2001, I paid $18,000 to have my colonial frame house coated with liquid vinyl siding by Procraft of Virginia. Since then, I have had nothing but problems with the product and the company. To date, the house continues to blister, crack, and bubble. It has never looked worse!
All of this would not be as offensive if Procraft honored-- in a timely fashion-- the 25-year product and labor warranty it provides. But this is not --and has not been --the case. Every year, I have had to call to request warranty work—my house has blistered, bubbled, and cracked since the initial application. And every year, I end up having to wait months and months to get any warranty work completed by the company.
In the past, I have written letters to both Greg Deathridge ( general manager) and the Better Business Bureau. And after doing this, I have received a very timely response. However, the next year, when there are more bubbles, cracks, and blisters on my house, I start all over again with the same poor customer service, nonsensical excuses, and delayed responses. My phone calls are rarely returned, unless I get a little testy, and then someone does respond to me but with the same old, worn out excuses and reasons for delay.
The latest excuse I have been given is that I probably have rotted wood—if this is true, then it is Procraft’s problem: I had the house inspected by a representative of your company and paid extra to have some questionable wood replaced by your company prior to the initial application in 2001. At that time, I was told that the product would ensure the protection of the wood. Furthermore, the bubbling, cracking, and chipping are all over the house and not in one or two specific areas, which leads me to believe that it has nothing to do with the quality of the wood but with the product and/or its application. Finally, I am concerned that as a result of some bare wood being exposed to the elements, I will eventually have a rotting problem.
Again I am waiting for warranty work to be done. I initially called this time in April of 2007 and have called repeatedly, each time being told that I am on the list and that work will begin in two weeks. The last time I called, I was told that someone would definitely begin repair work by the end of August. Well the end of August has come, and I have yet to see any warranty work started. No one called to say they were not coming or to offer me any idea of when I might expect someone to come out to begin the work.
