I found a link which had led me to believe in the name brand of google to download a toolkit and the advertised cost was a one off payment of $1.99. At no point at all during my transaction was there mention of further installments/charges. I was given a username and password straight away and didnt think anything else of it as i thought this business was trustworthy especially with the associated google name.
I had intended for this to be something i would engage in as and when i got the time/need and didnt think of anything else. I tried to log into my account and found my username/password to be invalid. There have been amounts of around £44.00 taken out of my account for the past 3 months...i went to my bank to ask about these transactions and upon further investigation traced them back to pacificwebworks aka profitstudiolearning.com. I called them up and asked to close my account and also enquired why i was being charged around $80 a month - the lady i spoke to (Jana - apparently no surnames are given out to clients - company policy); she insisted that the terms and conditions are on every page and should have seen it and that that was that - which i didnt see on my purchasing this toolkit for $1.99!!
I further went on to ask her if she was aware that there were a lot of complaints about the company and she said yes after which she hurriedly ended the conversation.
As someone who is trying to make ends meet, logic tells me that i would not have agreed to parting with around £44 a month especially for something/goods/services that i havent received/didnt know what it would be and that i would be reasonably wanting to pay $80 every month for would really have had to be worth it - and agreed to pay for that sort of thing well in advance???!!
I believe rather angrily that i have been scammed... I have seen a lot more complaints since this and wondered - apart from being cautious in future - if there was anything that could make/persuade this company information more transparent and stop misleading people!
Thanks
Angry, scammed Londoner.
